Oh yes that sweet, sweet thang. I've been waiting on this for a good bit now. I had no issue at 3197mhz and 4.124 on 1107, but all I did was flash this baby and just tickle it for a quick second and bam, 3360mhz, 4.14ghz stable.

I'll bet I can squeeze more but I'm ready to play some VR right now. That was so easy it's criminal lol.

I know there will be people with problems posting a lot, so I thought I would share my success(es)!

I bet it isn't stable running Benchmarks such as Cinebench 15 or Asus Realbench. Try those.

NightRogue, you have some nice high end parts. What Vcore setting are you using? Can you run Intel Burn test 2.53 without rebooting?

Will do. Of course they have much different GPUs (5960x=GTX1080; 1800x=RX480)

Since I just updated to BIOS 1403 yesterday and am running the 1800x at 4050 via P-states in the BIOS (40.5 x 100); I will rerun my AiDa64benchmarks for both the 1800x and the 5960x plus other benchmarks to be listed and post this weekend.

Both CPUs and GPUs are custom water cooled with EK blocks.

The 5960x is very stable at 4.4 Ghz on all 8 cores with memory running at 2133 (it's quad channel so plenty fast enough). The 1800x is super stable at 4.05 (40.5x100) and memory is set at 3200 since it is the AMD FlareX 3200. I would love to put a water cooled RX Vega in the 1800x at some point.

The stress tests I run are at least 10 runs of Intel Burn test ; Asus RealBench Stress test at least 1 hour; CB15; Aida64 Stress test at least 15 minutes (I do at least 1/2 hour).

What are ur temps like ?

ugh sorry been VR gaming, tweaking, sleeping, etc lol.... I do run stability tests but I also just game on a bunch of different things and that will usually find issues pretty fast as well.

Got way more responses than I thought I would!

I did have a problem today resuming from sleep - but this has been a problem for me on other systems too including my i7 4770k on NvMe or even SSD they just don't seem to want to behave correctly resuming from sleep or hibernation if I try that. Today when I resumed from sleep I was downclocked to 667 or so MEGAHERTZ lol the multiplier went to 5.5x and I have no clue why. (also reported my VID @ 1.55!!) I am attempting to google the issue. In the meantime, I am looking into p-state overclock as long as I can figure out how to keep an increased bclk as well, which I understand with newer bios should be able to do.

I am now on 4.160 @ 3466mhz but I need to put it through some paces for a little while. Vcore is 1.3685. I have a pretty good chip it seems, but again this is why I overpaid for the 1800x anyway as they are supposed to be pre-binned. I did try some higher O/Cs above what I am currently at but I wasn't very successful. This looks like where I will try to settle with my current DDR4 kit. Based on what I have seen, IF i can settle here, I've done a damn fine job and I've got some good parts. I'll try to get the questions here.

Can you run intel burn test 2.53 without rebooting?

Dunno never used that. I will download and run it tonight on my new settings. Yes, I did pay a lot of money for my rig but this is pretty much the only hobby I have, so... 😄

What are your temps like?

Idle sticks around 21 to 22.1 celsius. At current O/C, when I run the most intensive thing I have installed which is an AES-256 bench, I top out at 44.3 celsius. As I stated I have a pretty beefy EKWB loop with Prolima tech pk3 TIM. The only thing on the loop right now is the CPU, and as this is my first "custom loop" (not AIB although it technically was a "kit") I have been VERY impressed with it's performance once I got around the whole back-plate causing the 8 q-code issue

I bet it's running PCIe 2.0

lol of course it is! Anything over 104 FSB it's suggested to do that. Although it's supposed to do it automatically in the BIOS, I set it manually. There is no measurable real world difference (I DO have two rigs with 1080ti in them, and benchmarks are only really differing by the fact that one is an FE and one is custom AIB) between 2.0 and 3.0 as I myself have seen and I have seen countless other tech sites demonstrate.

I'll bet you can't run X and stay stable

Maybe not. I have always overclocked my rigs, but I'm not what I consider to be a "hardcore" overclocker. BUT, I did involve myself into this discussion, and I have the hardware to try to max this out, so why not! I really want to play some VR but I'll run some benches in a little while and when I go to sleep. I'll report back later on. I am POSITIVE I will need to tweak the vcore as I had some strange flashes (no BS though) when running AIDA 64 that made me nervous.

The stress tests I run are at least 10 runs of Intel Burn test ; Asus RealBench Stress test at least 1 hour; CB15; Aida64 Stress test at least 15 minutes (I do at least 1/2 hour).

I know you weren't talking to me but if that's what you do, I'll do that as well. I also run HCI memtest to at least 100% in as many instances as I can just for giggles.

And my new settings have me like 1% ahead of the 6950x (Again, 3.0ghz lol) in multi-thread and 8% in single

Thanks for the replies! I too am now interested as to whether or not I can keep this LATEST settings stable. I am pretty sure the other settings would have stayed solid even considering that weird sleep state issue I had, but I AM a bit iffy on whether or not I can keep this setup stable. I am pushing the Flare-x pretty hard now at 1.40v and the 1800x is pretty much as high as I've seen most people able to ever achieve on non-LN2 systems (I have seen 4.2ghz, but I doubt I can - mainly because I don't have the patience to keep fiddling with the meta settings) so I would genuinely be shocked if I can make it through these stress tests. But I will let you know!!

EDIT: I was able to find other people with the same issue resuming from sleep, and it was at the same speed even! However they said it was related to AiSuite, which I long since uninstalled. I DO have ryzen master installed, so I will remove that instead and see if that keeps it from happening again.

I know it looks like this is only a few minutes apart, but I had some issues getting my first response to actually show up in the thread (some issue with the site i think) so it took me a while and a bunch of peeved off retypes to get it on there.

So update: My new settings weren't very stable. I was able to game a bit and get through most everything EXCEPT Intel Burntest, although i managed to go from 1 min before BS to 24 mins by making some SOC voltage and LLC/etc meta adjustments, but as I said I am way too impatient for all that, and this isn't what I planned on spending my night doing anyway.

So I've returned to the OG settings I started at in my post, except I've upped vcore to 1.3685 from 1.35 to try to ensure stability in the Intel stress. So far so good but it will be many more hours before I finish up.

That intel stress is a killer man lol

most boring 3 hours of my life. Seriously lol.

It took a little doing and some tweaks but I am finally to where at least -I- am comfortable with everything. If you are going to say "well you gotta run X stress test overnight or it ain't stable" then I guess I'll just declare I'm not stable according to you, guy who says this.

~1 hour of Intel Stress incl additional ~5 minutes on extreme setting (I was crazy bored but I wasn't sure if "standard" was normal so I ran this for a short bit just to see if I would make it through a couple passes)
~30 minutes of Realbench
~15 minutes AIDA64 Stress
1 Full 100% pass on HCI memtest @ 8GB (4 instances)
Another 10 passes of Intel for a screen snip of results

during the memtest I was using the computer as well, in notepad anyway just typing some things in.

Here are the changes I made and also I guess a more detailed list of my settings:

-120 Bclk / 34.5X
-3360mhz DDR4 w/ 14, 14, 14, 14, 35, 55 (yes I moved up one from 34)
-Gen 2 PCIe
-1.38675v Vcore
-1.1v SOC
-4.1v DRAM and Boot voltage
-1.8v PLL
-CPU LLC Level 2
-Spread Spectrum Disabled
-Super I/O Clock skew disabled
-no other LLC or other changes in digi+ made
-Windows Fast boot disabled
-High performance power mode
-For GPU AIDA bench I overclocked the Asus Strix (non OC edition) to 150/250
(If I left anything out that anyone wants to know just ask)

No weird behaviors so far although it will take a few days for me to see sleep resumes, heavy gaming, etc results. Mouse cursor lags a bit during startup while all my apps get brought in but it always does that. In fact, I've not been very happy with boot times since my CHVI formula - my ITX build uses an AsRock board and it boots like lightening on an SSD, but on my NvMe even it still takes 20 seconds plus some time on the end if you count app loading in background that slows things down for a little while longer. BUT, my ASUS boards are always rock solid and stable so I don't mind.

I didn't think to take snips of everything so I ran Intel Stress again for just 10 passes to snip the results for naysayers 😛 The other pics are benches

Final max temp I recorded was 49.7 celsius so I am pretty happy with that - this was after nearly an hour of stressing so the water had plenty of time to stabilize at that temp and not go any higher! Some pics below and I thought I'd go ahead and o/c the GPU and test it in AIDA just to show.

So that's it! If I run into issues I'll come back and say whoops. Also, I've never really done any posting like this before, and I've never shown off my rig online before I don't think, so I though maybe I would get some feedback as I am rather proud of this one. Also, I've always like the ROG stickers I get but I never use them - I did this time, so tell me do you think they are tastefully applied? lol

Sorry about the last pic, it won't upload straight up for some reason. Later all!
