    xarot,
Not finding much love for sli are you, all I can suggest is keep posting and hopefully you'll get someone to fix something
If it's nvidia drivers hopefully they'll get an update out, if it's motherboards Nvidia should be able to put pressure on them
If it's Intel hopefully Nvidia and motherboard manufacturers will pressure them into some kind of fix
Nvidia have been having a hard time keeping cards in stock, if they were hurting for sales I bet they would get this fixed ASAP, kind of a shame isn't it

If Asus doesn't care to reply I'll just return the mobo to the retailer since the item was not as described. I actually overpaid for the x299 strix not imagining it was not sli ready.

Thanks for replying Menthol, I guess this is just one issue maybe went unnoticed in a hurry with this platform launch. 44 PCIe lanes go to waste if cannot be properly utilized.

Also it's summer so it'll be a bit more quiet here and people are waiting for ThreadRipper or the 7920X.

If single card perf is okay, I'd lean towards GPU drivers first. Comparison wise, I'd disable power savings on both platforms (CPU and PCIe), and then match clocks. Requires some sound methodology.

It's early to say that X299 is bad compare to X99.
We need to wait to X299 mature. X99 had own problems but generally was fantastic platform and 10-12 months after launch when she mature people OC very well their late CPU batches.
I believe in X299, it will be even better if Intel decide to solder i9 line and later batches of i7 Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X.
After Rampage series show up and ASUS WS and mATX board and if Intel improve that section no reason to think X99 was better.
3 things are done on wrong way.

    -Thermal Paste
    -Early launch without all motherboards
-Price mixed with 28 PCI-E lanes on 600$ worth processor.

i7-7820X cost almost 700 euro in Europe on some places and it's tragic to have 28 PCI-E lanes.
I don't want to interfere in Intel plans but for competition with Threadripper Intel would be in far better position in this form and probably more people think on that way...

    i7-7800X 6C/12T 28 PCI-E lanes - 299$
    i7-7820X 8C/12T 44 PCI-E lanes - 499$
    i9-7900X 10C/20T 44 PCI-E lanes - 699$

In this form Intel could profit more in total than with their specifications and prices as Intel decide.
Total profit from that 3 model would be bigger than with Intels price. They would sell much more models and less customers would switch on Ryzen 7 or Threadripper.
Profit from people who will choose AMD because wrong prices and who will avoid X299 would compensate lower price. And I set price for 6-8 Cores to be more attractive than Ryzen 7 and give opportunity to more people buy I7-7820X and to choose i9-7900X rather than Threadripper with 12 cores and he will cost arround 759$.

I didn't think about pcie link state power savings is this what you are referring to Raja? I always do this along with USB right after a new OS install

Yes, although, I'd look at GPU drivers first - especially if single card perf is okay.

I checked all those power settings but none seemed to do anything, performance on single card is OK but as we can tell the performance can be a tad slower than 6950X.

Unfortunately I just didn't have enough time to troubleshoot this any further as that was all I had the time to do then with my rig, I went back to X99 for now and it's smooth sailing again. I'll be checking this issue again when the Rampage VI Extreme is available for purchase and probably we have many other users to compare settings if the issue still persists.

I'm having the same issue. At first (and after troubleshooting with EVGA) I think that this is a Nvidia Geforce or Intel Chipset driver issue. It really ticks me off too. 44 pcie lanes and no one thought to check SLI??! What the heck man...

Anyway, I've been through 2 x299 motherboards and it's all the same. I tried my cards in a friend's x99 rig and they worked fine in SLI - as expected. Not the cards. I returned my first Asus X299 Deluxe because I thought it was hardware. Come to find out that now with my second - a Gigabyte Gaming 7 - that it has the same issue.

It does make me nervous because the SLI community isn't what it once was... There just aren't a whole lot of us out there to complain! Hopefully it gets fixed soon.

Huh - I never knew about that particular power setting. Apparently it's never (yet) been important for me. But still good to know. Thanx!

I wonder what other moves you've got, Mister Menthol?
Maybe somebody should put together a "Tweak Windows For Gaming" guide, lol.
