I am going to see if I can escalate to 3rd level support. Clearly there is a driver issue with Widows 1709 and Fall Creators Edition. Everything works but my Header DAC unit will not play signals from the Headphones. I have tried absolutely everything. By default it installs Microsoft drivers that do not work. I loaded the 23 driver (latest) directly from the hard drive and I receive a signature error. I even loaded the latest version and used the earlier driver (one generation earlier) but still no should on headphones. Interesting no Clicking sound ? It used to make a clicking sound on earlier versions of windows when you plugged in headphones. Now nothing. If I plug the headphones into the mic input I hear a sound so its getting power but no sound. The meters show signal but no sound on the headphones.
I turned off the audio unit in BIOS and back on as suggested but no good. Now I will remove the PCIe cable and try that but I think I am grasping at straws now clearly since the update of windows to 1709 the headphone output jack on the DAC on the front of the computer just does not work.

If ASUS doesn't give a **** about you, why continue to use their product? I sold my Hi-Fi and bought a real one that actually works. I spent 3 months trying to get ASUS to fix it and they refuse. I'm tired of having downtime trying to fix their ****.
Solution: sell their crap SupremeFX DAC and get one that works.
The ONLY reason why their motherboards work is because 99% of the drivers are from vendors like NVIDIA, Intel, AMD, Realtek, etc. Imagine if we had to use all drivers directly from ASUS. Ha, ha ha ha. Not selling my motherboard but I can assure you I will never buy one of their products again. Sick of troubleshooting on a daily basis.

Just wanted to post here my own experience with this DAC. First and foremost, the "latest" official driver that provides the most functionality from my usage is 1.9.114.21 without any secure boot disabling or disabling signature enforcement steps.
Driver 1.9.114.26 will install, but if you check device manager you'll see that the drivers are not Asus/Savitech, but are using generic Microsoft drivers instead. This is why the mic is shown as a "line" with 1.9.114.26. The drivers are still not installed. The audio playback does work, but I have no idea if using the microsoft driver impacts the sound quality in any way instead of the official DAC driver. If you try to manually install the Asus driver you'll be met with an unsigned error and be back to square one.
In any "usable" usable scenario (using 1.9.114.21, 1.9.114.26 (generic), or 1.9.114.26 (official, signing disabled) the following issues are present in each case:
- No Asus Sonic Suite II Integration - This is advertised as a feature, but I have never seen it work. Sonic Suite II will not recognize the DAC.
- No Option to adjust microphone volume - When the mic is "properly" recognized, there is some volume to it, but it is still dramatically lower than using the onboard realtek mic input. Additionally, I noticed that there was excessive white noise on the DAC mic input vs the realtek mic input (I tested 2 headsets and a modmic). Essentially it's unusable due to the low volume and white noise. The HiFi Control Panel and/or Windows recording options need an option to boost the microphone properly.
I opened a ticket with Asus several weeks ago, and provided a very in depth writeup about the current state of the drivers, the various threads on this forum, and all the issues I noticed.
The first email I received stated the Asus Engineering team would be contacted to provide me with a solution. The first solution I received was to check that I plugged in the power cable and USB cable and to install the driver. I wrote up a multi page in depth email (addressing basic troubleshooting) and that's the response I received...
I replied and included my writeup again hoping for a better response and received an email that they would once again be working with Asus engineers to provide a solution. The response I received next, and I'm not joking, was to check the USB and PCIe cable, and to also turn the volume knob to check for volume playback. Both completely unrelated issues.
I sent another email with my writeup again and tried to simplify it as much as I could to get a response to the issues in the bulleted list above, and was told to wait to hear back after they contact Asus Engineers for the 3rd time.
Lastly, I received an email to use the old 1.9.114.21 driver (despite explaining in detail it still doesn't work properly in my past emails) and a very interesting ending to the email that there is a new SupremeFX driver coming sometime within Q3 2018. So hopefully they address these issues by the end of September.
In the meantime, I encourage everyone to open a support ticket about this issue to get their attention. With luck we can have a fully functional DAC.

Support ticket opened 30 July 2018
I was told to increase the microphone boost.
I was also told there is no driver ASUS Driver version 6.0.6001.0.
Even though the numbers appear (6.0.6001.0) in the current version on the support page after downloading.
With Supreme FX Hi-Fi version 1.9.114.21 I have to speak within 5mm of the microphone. With Supreme FX Hi-Fi version 1.9.114.26 microphone implant near vocal cords required.
RMA completed:
As ASUS Support Staff stated, I am the only one experiencing this problem with the SupremeFX Hi-Fi DAC low microphone input, so RMA was required.
Different motherboard and still the same low microphone recording input with the SupremeFX Hi-Fi DAC.
I tried to explain it was a software driver issue causing the low microphone input recording, but no one was concerned. Apparently, it is not going to be fixed, because I am the only one having this problem.
The replacement motherboard was missing the PCH shroud on the back of the motherboard and eventually was sent by ASUS Repair Center.
Nevertheless, the headphones work flawlessly, but microphone input recording level is not going to be fixed.Last edited by pndiode; 10-17-2018 at 11:51 AM. Reason: RMA Completed
