Rampage IV Gene layout was great.
If someone want to use dedicate sound card could install GPU in second or third slot and sound card above in small PCI-E slot.
8 phases, 4 DIMM slots, 8+8 pin, DIMM.2 slot, SupremeFX, compatibile with Intel Optane.

I always liked E-ATX or mATX.
Mini ITX is too small for gaming RIG.
There is really small cases on first look almost as Mini ITX capable to fit mATX board where customers could use dedicate sound card.
I try to use best possible graphic card, why to ignore best possible sound if they are far cheaper.

ASUS have mATX board but for Z270.
Strix Z270 G is cool board. But you can't expect from LGA1151 same as LGA2066.
2066 boards always look more powerfull.

But if Intel decide to keep LGA1151 for Coffee Lake and Cannon Lake Strix Z270G will be great for Intel 6C/12T processor from 8th Gen.

Rog Rampage VI Gene X299 sounds pretty great to me. After the last one released on X79 in 2012 I think 5 years later it's about time to make a comeback for the little powerhouse. I know many ppl who would enjoy one. Take a look at the growing mATX market. The only competition so far is an underdeveloped board from EVGA. The addition of a Gene would complete the lineup of X299 Boards. Hope it will be under the Rog rather than the Strix brand though and it'll be a true beauty.

Board with 4 DIMM slot would be better for me because I have only 4 modules, better than empty between them.
ASUS will launch something similar in mATX format, probably.

Economic situation is obstacle for me but I have great idea in head for Apex inside Mac G5 case or Lian-Li PC-011.
Lian-Li PC-011 should be ROG certified case.
I don't know why people rearly have good taste for cases, I rearly see them to build Lian-Li RIGs, for me they make premium cases and PC-010 and PC-011 are great.
In PC-011 Poseidon could be installed on two different ways depend how customer like more.

Not heard of any plans for X299 m-ATX yet, so don't get your hopes up.

    OK, at least some information.
Never mind there is really good motherboards this year X399 and X299, and off course for Ryzen X370.

After so many years a lot of enthusiasts think what to do, Intel or AMD, AMD or Intel, Threadripper or Skylake-X.
Long time choice was obvious for premium configurations. No to be honest I people could be proud with Threadripper + Vega as premium build.

Well thats kinda sad. Is there any specific reason why Asus doesn't seem to bother with mATX on X299? When someone offered a great mATX board it was a always Asus. While having 7 different ATX boards tailored to all kinds of customers it wouldn't really hurt to have one more. Especially because it would open up a new group of customers who have a mATX build.
Don't really like having to break brand loyality with Asus since a decade. Going with evga when it comes motherboards isn't really my first choice, but as of yet it's my only choice as they are unbelievably the only ones on the market with an mATX X299 board. Well at least they seem to take their time with the X299 release, hope they come out with a well rounded package.

    @upsnef: that's one sexy machine!

Simply too much development work going on keeping up with all the chipsets releases, so models that don't sell lots of volume aren't on the current agenda.

Ok I do admit, it must be a lot going on in R&D. X370, X299, X399 and the upcoming Z370(?)
