    You can set the wait timer of the prompt to enter the BIOS in the Boot Options.
    I have set mine to 1 second with quick boot enabled and it works fine.

    Hello all, Is my problem the motherboard?

    Hello all, just came across this forum in my effort to find out whats wrong with my new build!!

    First off the specs:
    Asus B350-f Strix
    Ryzen 5 1600
    2 x 8Gb corsair ram
    GTX 980
    EVGA 850 GQ

    Now my problem is a bit like others, My screen will lose its connection, mouse & keyboard lose power. Also my front I/O ports and buttons stop working.
    My water cooling system still work and runs and so do the fans that are plugged into the motherboard. The only way to restart is to turn the PSU off at the back.
    Happens when stress testing and also randomly. Stress test makes it happen within 10 seconds.

    I thought it might be my PSU at first overloading the motherboard, so i changed it to an EVGA 850GQ and still happens.

    Please please help, spent a fortune (to me) on this build and now my Mrs isn't too impressed i "wasted the money".

    Thanks
    Tim

    Hi Tim,

    Do you have any overclocking applied to your build? What is the BIOS version you currently have running? What kind of case do you have? Sounds like you might have the wires mixed up for the reset and power buttons. Did you match it up to what the instruction booklet said to do?

    Hi, thanks for the reply.

    Mixed up the wires? would that cause my problems?

    I have a fractal design c tempered glass, No overclocking, and 902 atm but just about to to the new update.

    What model ram do you have ?
    It sounds a lot like the issues I had. I bet it's your ram. It should for the most part work if not overcloked.
    However do check that they are inserted in the 2nd and 4th dimm slot on the mb. Check also that all the cables are in the right place and properly in.

    Update your bios it cannot hurt. Then try a proper cmos clear (or go for it before update), pull out the battery, short the clear cmos pin and hold the power button for a bit.
    Try other dimms if you got the possiblity. My issues whet away when i changed to gskill flare x.

    Post updates. GOod luck.

    Hi, not sure model of the top of my head but it's the standard Corsair kit everyone's 2 X 8gb running at 2133.

    I have done a memtest on them and if it's ram I thought I'd get bsod? But will try testing it out.

    Yeah most likely the corsair LPXs. I had the 3000mhz cl15 kit. I've seen a bunch of ppl having issues with such kits on a range of motherboards.
    They can pass a mem test no problem then crash for whatever reasons. I did various tests as well, 2.5 a soft i can remember the name of, all was fine but when test was over shortly after pc crashed.

    Hello Tim

    I have/had the exact same issue. So I would say that it ´s not your PSU or your wiring (power/reset).
    I in counted the issue randomly, I suspect that it´s memory related, try setting lower speed and loose timings, with SoC voltage at 1.1V and memory voltage at 1.35V, and see if you can get system stability(run some benchmarks and use it normally). If yes then you can start tiding the memory settings.

    I've never fiddled with memory timings, is it complicated? I shall have a little youtube session tonight and report back. The voltage is set to 1.2 so am i increasing that to promote more stability.

    Fixed!! I think?

    So i had a fiddle with the memory timings, speed & volts etc and seemed to work for a lot longer so i then opened up HW Monitor and instantly crashed so i believe its the same root cause as most people that having multiple programs that access the motherboard to monitor it makes it crash resulting in black screen, no usb outputs or front I/O response.

    So I uninstalled HW Monitor and changed some ram speeds etc if anyone could go over and check that they are ok as its my first time.

    AI Overclock Tuner -> D.O.C.P
    Memory Freq -> 2933mhz
    CPU Core Ratio -> 39
    CPU Voltage -> Offset 0.10000 (total of 1.4370)
    SOC Voltage -> Offset 0.25000 (total of 1.6000)
    DRAM Voltage -> 1.4v
    Timings are 16-17-17-36

    Also was told to disable core performance boost.
