This is a behaviour that we see with other ASUS motherboards as reported here: https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthrea...l=1#post668992 You can find several reports of this problem on the web...

Most of the time, it's due to how some of the onboard ICs are setup/reset (they either need it or there are stability issues if the startup sequence isn't stepped). Others, it's due to disabling certain hardware features that require a power cycle.

Thanks Raja. I (and others) have the same issue with a Maximus VIII motherboard. Is there any log during the POST process that could help with finding out the cause of this?

I have this problem with my newly built system and it's driving me nuts. I'm beginning to think that my board is defective. I am running a 1700X clocked at 3800 MHz and 2 8GB G Skill Flair X Ram chips. Almost everytime I boot my computer in the morning after waking up my computer will start up, stop and then start up and boot to Windows. If this was all it did I could live with it but there is another, more serious problem. It looses the timing I have dialed in on my bios and reverts to the default speed and timing. In Bios I have the DOCP Standard setting so that my Flair X ram runs at its rated 3200 MHz with 14 14 14 34 48 1T timings. After this cold boot it will be at 2400 MHz with 16 16 16 56 72 1T timings even though it will still show the DOCP Default setting still active. I have disabled the Fast Start in Bios and this seems to help but it is still doing this. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this behavior. Is my board defective?

Oh, I forgot to mention something. This cold boot issue is independent of my overclock. It does this behavior no matter if I run my processor overclocked or at its normal speed.

Have any of you tried the 9920 BIOS which specifically aims to fix the cold boot issues?
