Sli on Maximus IV extreme-z,

Hi guys,
I've 2 gtx 560ti, I want to know if I can put them into
1st pci-e slot ( pcie_x16/8_1)
and the last one (pcie_x16_4), to get them more spaced.
I red on the manual that for sli mode I have to use 1st and 3rd slot.

The manual does suggest that slots 1 and 3 should be used for SLi, not sure you can use the bottom one due to the NF200 chip.

Just try it and see if it works, the worst that could happen is that it does not work.

Im asking that because I've watercooling in my pc, so I'd prefer to know before fill it, because you know it is not so easy move the vga with tubes into the case 🙂

It indeed will work, but its not ideal. This will activate the nf200 chip and increase latencies with the 2 cards. for a 2 card system, your best bet is slots 1 and 3
for 3 cards its 1, 2, 4 engaging the nf200.
you could go 2 and 4 but this engages again the nf200 and despite the increased bandwidth of the pcix16, latencies defeat the purpose

i was wondering this also , so which slots do i use , i have 2 gtx 560 2gb, currently have 1 waiting on other . i have the first one in slot 1 , so which slot for sli.

Slot 1 & 3, as they are shared. As 2 & 4 is shared. You can however move them to other lanes to fit your need. As you may see a 2% roughly hit in performance on the lower lanes. Thanks
