I think Xmas 2018 would be fine, but people would like to have an official date they can aim for.
Additionally, the monitor will be expensive, I think about 1500 or so, so saving a little more money might until release not be the worst idea ;-)

No details on pricing have been released yet, everyone is spectating.
By the time this monitor; that is already pushing the limits spec wise of current data interfaces; is released it will still bridge the gap of gaming advantage and resolution.
OLED gaming over 60hz is a distance dream and it will happen.
As far as I'm concerned and have been for 5 months, if this monitor is released in 2018 its 100% buy for me. The current prices of GPU and the future of the card buying consumer is going to find this product to be desired.
I don't want this monitor to be released prematurely. If you have been a long time ROG buyer you know once the price is set, it doesn't move for much.
If other considerable products are released in the same time frame it will drive competition, and subsequently lower prices.ROG2015 Back in Red&Black

I wonder if this is going to have ULMB. If it does, it might be really excellent, with an HDR backlight it should have brightness to spare for strobing, and strobing will also hide the long dark pixel transitions endemic to VA. Of course it will have much better black levels than the PG27UQ and thus less visible blooming.
Unfortunately most(all?) of the newer 3440x1440 Ultrawides don't have ULMB, but I'm hoping since they managed to include it on the PG27UQ despite the FALD, it will be here too.
E: NM, 27" don't have ULMB so I expect that this will not either.Last edited by Sancus; 06-19-2018 at 03:52 AM.

I was recently looking at upgrading to an Ultra wide monitor and then read about this one. I hope this one releases sometime soon but with no release date information that could be a ways off till it does I think.

Still not released lol
And I'm not buying anything else unlike some other peeps I know. This monitor should be everything I really need for the upcoming years... until they announce a new and improved one

Patience starting to run out, but really nothing else that interests me. Maybe the XG32VQR but that's FreeSync and not G-Sync (I know NVIDIA "Supports" FreeSync but I'd rather have the proper version if that makes sense)
In NVIDIAS pressrelease on january 6th, regarding G-SYNC and BFG, they said:
"and later this quarter ASUS will unleash their curved 35-inch 3440x1440 G-SYNC HDR display. Like the 27-inchers, it reaches a brilliantly-bright 1000 nits, has 512 backlight zones, and best-in-class colour and contrast for the best possible HDR gaming experience.” So that should be this monitor right?
So hopefully we'll se the monitor released soon
