    Red face Green 3.5 mm jack (back) producing no sound

    I built a Maximus IX Formula rig over the weekend, and have (at least almost) the same problem. My problem is that I loose the back green 3,5 mm plug output after reboot. In practical terms this means no sound from that jack when set to Stereo Speakers (or Headphones), and no sound from the side speakers when set to 5.1 (the same green jack). And yes, all speakers works just fine. After re-installing the audio drivers everything works perfectly, after a reboot any sound signal from the green jack is gone (all the other jacks function as they should in 5.1). I have nothing plugged in the front jacks, and no other sound system or software installed (just the onboard SupremeFX).

    This is driving me nuts.

    While being no expert, I do know what I am doing (this is the n:th computer I've built). I have tried all available settings, but the problem is persistently just this = no sound from the back green 3.5 mm jack after reboot, regardless of connected device or sound settings.

    To clarify: the installation process will do 2 restarts, one after removing the previous driver, one suggested after installing the new driver. Sound and sound outputs work perfectly in between, i.e. before the second restart (= not doing the suggested reboot by selecting the "restart later" option).

    I have no idea what happens during the second reboot (one suspicion is that the culprit is Sonic Suite 3, which is not running/active before next boot).

    Have the same problem with the previous driver version (on the mobo cd).

    Tried to install the latest generic drivers from Realtek, but get an error at the of the process.

    Using Win 10 Pro 64 (latest build), latest official BIOS (1009) and latest audio drivers from Asus (Realtek_AudioDriver_Win7-10_V6018158_20170607). Otherwise the rig works just fine.

    Any help or any fix would be great, as currently the new computer cannot be used for video, music and gaming (or anything that needs sound coming from the back green 3.5 mm jack). Even a post explaining why I am being stupid (for not understanding having to fix the problem) would be greatly appreciated .

    I have the same problem, except on my ASUS ROG Crosshair VI Hero. This workaround also works for me, but is annoying (opening SupremeFX and switching the output settings back and forth). Have you guys found another way?

    I set up my speakers, they work fine, I add the headset, I select the corresponding jacks to the correct devices. I can toggle between Windows 10's audio devices and there is no issue. However, the moment I reboot, the SupremeFX seems to do something wrong,because from that moment, the sound is both in my headphones and on my speakers, and when I switch to the other device in windows settings (being my headphones), I hear nothing. Running the 'test' on the devices in windows audio results in the test sounds on my speakers, and hearing nothing for the headset..

    I am at a loss here guys, did I miss a critical thing, or is the realtek hd audio manager really that buggy that I cannot seperate my headset and speakers? Another thing is that when I go in teamspeak and try to select any after a reboot, it just fails to play the sound and says 'Error opening playback device: device not registered/known

    Anyone that can help me with this one?
    im having the same problem, and the workaround is pretty annoying.. i hope someone from ASUS will develop a fix for this. I disabled "enable auto popup dialog, when device has been plugged in" but any time i plug a new device, the popup appears. Clearly it doesnt work.

    The only workaround i've found usefull is to plug/unplug the device with my hand every time.. but, that is not the way it should work.

    Is there any other way to submit a claim to asus?

    I have no way, maybe we can contact support? Or gives this thread a lot of visibility? It is a shame that for such an expensive motherboard, such basic functionality just doesn't work..

    well.. im completely agree with you. i hope someday realtek and asus will release a new driver version with the fix.
