To Noctua Fans: WARNING: the NH-U14S TR4-SP3 blocks slot 1

I confirmed this with the Noctua folks. Because the Zenith Extreme doesn't follow AMD's keep out guidelines, the clearance needed for a Noctua is not available and as such the first PCIe x16 slot will always be blocked. If you plan to run two cards, you will need to find an alternative cooling solution. This is just a heads up for Noctua fans like myself.

I'm running just one GPU so the x16 slot 3 is where I'm at. (works fine AFAICT).

Hi, looking at building a new pc next month to replace my ancient crosshair IV and was thinking about the same cooler..

I was wondering what the temp's you are getting with it are as there is no performance info out there at the moment for this cooler

    Thanks

I get 30C consistently in push/pull mode (two fans, I installed an extra retail NH-15A as per the install instructions) pretty consistently (note I followed the Noctua paste recommendations to the letter).

I would have to do more testing to really get a handle on its performance. My guess is like with all other Noctuas, they do as good if not better than an AIO, and do so pretty much silently. The only downside is if you need access to both x16 lanes on this board.

    Ok,

I'm going for just the one gpu in pcie x16_3 so the clearance issue is not a problem

I'm also going to go with the extra fan so 30c (I guess that's at low load) is lower than my current cpu

Have to see how it does rendering in 3ds max when all the cores are pushed to 100% usage tho

    Thanks for the info

Yes, lots of reviews for the non threadripper version using an i7-3960X, an i3-7200k and an i7-4470k none of which are the cpu i'm buying

I agree it looks like a good cooler but I was after temp's for the threadripper version on the 16 core 1950X as that's the cpu i'm buying and there is no temp's or detailed tests / reviews for the threadripper version

Wasn't sure what you meant. For TR I would go with something a little more powerful. The NH-U14S has a max TDP suggestion of 140W whereas Threadripper has a 180W TDP.

On noctua's site it states the tr4 version has a tdp of 180w + small amount of oc

    http://noctua.at/en/products/cpu-coo...erver/tdpguide

Just researching before I buy as I doubt i'll oc it much, coming from a 7 year old 6 core amd cpu it'll be much much better performance than I have now

Hopefully there will be some more detailed reviews for the tr4 cooler before I buy

You're right. Didn't see that because I didn't scroll down far enough to where the AMD compatible list is.
