The link doesn't work for me. It's best to determine if the coil whine is coming from the PSU or the graphics card. Is your system plugged into the wall directly or do you have a power surge protected power bar or UPS?
After you confirmed the coil whine is from the graphics card and if it's exceedingly loud, it should qualify for RMA replacement. If you encounter any issues with the RMA process, please send me a PM with the S/N and RMA# and I'll help follow up on it.

Hi again,
I phoned Asus and they told me that I needed to contact the retailer and request they deal with it on warranty grounds. Having spoken to an agent and detailed the problem he seemed to notice the fault on a list on his system. He said I can see why they sent you back here, or words to that effect. So...to be continued. If the retailer doesn't want to know, do I then go to Asus and request a repair? Could they repair it?
