    Is this a new installation? Have you tried dimm.2 slot 1?

    I don't think so. But just go under Onboard Devices Configuration and change M2_1(DIMM.2) source to CPU (preferably)
    Then Under Boot menu change CSM to disabled and see if it works

    RAID between the 2 different DIMM.2 cards on the Apex

    After setting up raid between the 2 different DIMM.2 cards on the Apex, I got speeds of nearly double. So I would recommend setting up raid between the single chipset slot and one of the DIMM.2 slots on the R6E, so they each get their own dedicated 4x lane (or get a PCIe card for VROC that supports non-Intel M.2, I think ASUS makes one)

    Keep in mind, there are 2 different types of raid now:
    IRST = VROC raid (must use VROC/cpu lanes... might require Intel brand M.2 drives... should be bootable) (I'm guessing this is the type you tried?)
    RSTe = Chipset raid (I use this type, allows any drive, but not bootable)
    Yes, Apex has one DIMM.2 slot connected to PCH, and another one, connected directly to CPU (I mean VROC), so you mean that you had ONE Samsung 960 in each DIMM.2 and was able to set RAID0 ? ...please, clarify. Many thanks in advance.

    If he is doing RAID 0 as bootable he is doing it through the PCH bus, which is possible but it will cap seq reads at 3500 ish, just like the z170/z270 boards. VROC RAID 0 on a bootable drive is NOT possible without using specific Intel drives. The CPU DIMM.2 has 8 pci-e lanes attached to it so if you were to set up your Windows OS on the PCH DIMM.2 then you could do a RAID 0 non-bootable drive and get full windows RAID speeds of 6000-7000 Seq Reads.

I removed second 1TB 960 pro from DIMM.2_2 because of it.

    Yes you can raid up two M2 drives through the PCH and actually DATA only VROC for a trial version just to see what you cant have and it will expire in 90 days.

    Do you have the Advanced tab, PCH storage set to raid and the aforementioned tabs shown in post above the DIMM.2 set to PCH?

    Hey do you ore someone else know what happend after the 90 days of trial? I Don´t want a bootable RAID. The software RAID0 is enough for me, but i don´t know what happend with it wenn the Trial for the IRSTe is over. can i use it either or will it be deleted/not accessible?

    If you aren't using bootable RAID, then you don't need the Enterprise version of RST which runs out in 30 days. Just go to Disk Management and setup your RAID there. You want to use SOFTWARE RAID but not the RST software but WINDOWS software. Windows RAID is better anyway because it is faster than the VROC under the RST software. BTW after 90 days you won't be able to access that drive anyway. My best advice is to copy what you have on your current RAID drive to another drive. Kill the RAID array, uninstall the RST and use Disk Management to recreate the RAID array and copy back your files. GL.

    Hi guys,

    Got a question regarding the dimm m.2 adapter on the Apex IX. Reason you can’t go over 3500mb/s on a raid with two m.2 drives one on each side is because ultimately your either limited to a total x4 bandwidth or limited by the pch. Correct?

    So if I want to have a boot drive on a single M.2 drive on one side and a data drive on the other side you can set that m.2 to cpu pcie operation and as long as they are not bootable have independent 3500mb/s throughput from both sides at same time?

    * Thanks*
