Well damn. Hard enough to find the board itself, but then there is knowing that it will arrive (someday when there is actually stock) secretly neutered by Intel. If Intel made any resemblance of a decent M.2 module then I'd have no issue forking over cash for them - unfortunately they don't, currently. It's just all so obviously rushed to market! Being the Intel fan-boy that I am though I guess I'll just deal with it

Thanks for you diligent work on this - I know from reading through this thread that you've put a good bit of time into this fiasco also.

Still waiting on my Hyper x16. I have two 32 GB optane drives and two 960s to try out but still no Key. I found a premium key but don’t want to shell out $150 on a non refundable experiment. The vendor doesn’t know if it will work and has a replace only policy. Well if the first one doesn’t work what do I need a replacement of the same thing for?*

I’ve opened a ticket with ASUS pointing out what’s in the specs and what is available also showing the statement by intel of no keys being sold, only bundled. First reply was apologies and thanks for bringing this to their attention. I replied an apology won’t make my rig that took a second mortgage to finance work as specified. To that I got a reply that it’s been escalated to senior representatives. I’m not looking for anything more than what is specified. If no keys can be purchased as stated in the manual then we should be provided with at least a standard key.*

In the meantime I’m going to see what will happen with 2 optane drives and 2 Samsung drives in the Hyper X 16. If I can get a bootable raid 0 with the optane drives and a data raid 0 with the Samsung drives I’ll be happy but not holding my breath. Anxiously awaiting to see if Artah gets his EBay key to work. *

Thanks for the response! Yeah, I hear you there. I don't blame you! I saw your other post about this too - I hope that definitely reaches the right people at Asus, or better yet, Intel!

Those all sound like good options that I would also consider. I'll definitely keep a lookout for any results from you guys.

I don't even have the board yet (I have everything else just sitting here looking sad in their respective boxes, minus any new storage). I've got in-stock alerts set at about every online outlet I can subscribe to!

Yeah... we should get a Dongle directly from Asus. I will accept even that we have to fill out a form to get it, since not everyone will want one, but we should get it.

Submit a ticket online, technical inquiry. The more people that do the more attention this will get.

Like I said, Im not looking for a freebie or a handout, I just want what I paid for and boy did I pay for it!!! Its not like I bought B350 Stix card with one stick of ram and the lowest CPU I could find to boot off of a 5200 rpm spinner and a used GT460 displayed on a CRT that has burn patterns.

Wal-Mart, wow! I would have never thought about looking there honestly (worlds largest retailer - probably should have considered them). No stock currently though.

I think I am going to break down and order one from the UK. Pricing wise it's about $100 more, plus the shipping.

Interesting, and thanks. I am surprised that all of this fell through the cracks so to speak though. I mean it's not like it is a hidden feature or even a rarely used one... Classic example of marketing overriding engineering at Intel (or basically every other fortune 100 company out there).

Is there even a header on the board for the key to be inserted into? Hard to tell from the board layout diagram/pictures.

Thanks for keeping on them about this. I sent them a note but unsurprising i got nothing back so far.

I don't think it fell through the cracks I think they were waiting on Intel. It wasn't until just a few weeks ago did they even put up the documentation on VROC.
