Hi,
Did all of the users here with RVIE bought it from oversea? Because it is not available in the US yet.
Couple days ago I caught a glimpse of Amazon said preorder on Oct 3 but the it was taken down the next day.

Why must you get my hopes up only to be shattered once again?

Sorry if you didn't get it. They were there. Just gotta keep checking. Amazon.US had some a few days ago for a few hours. There were 6 there today and someone posted about it on another thread and now they are gone. B&H might have some again. Gotta keep looking.

Honestly don't like the fact the RVIE cost $150+ more than I paid for my RVE board when they came out. Got that for $500 back in 2014. The fact they are so hard to get and I waited so long after release of the x299 for this board made me go with the Apex which I'm very happy with. Feature wise very close to the RVIE and only paid $400 for it. I never planned to use 8 sticks of RAM and don't really have use for a 10G NIC either at this point. There are some nice fancy things it has with the LED readout and the board is left has nice design but wasn't worth the wait and price this time around for me. I'm sure Intel is partly the blame for that though since they did rush out the Skylake X series. I'm sure the price of the board right now has to do a lot with supply and demand too.

Honestly if you don't need the 10G or the new WiFi (both which more than make up that $150 price gap) then the main difference is the Indium armour and the aesthetics. For me that was enough, but if the Extreme didn't exist I'm sure I would be just as happy with the Apex.

I only use WiFi on my laptops and handheld devices, don't use it ever on my main systems always hardwired for best gaming experience. 10G NIC is a future proof thing really or if you plan to hook a NAS to it with 10G interface, most people don't have 10G switches or routers in their house otherwise, though from a pure workstation standpoint its nice to have if you have a use for it.

Honestly I don't fault anyone for buying the Extreme if they want it. I mean I have bought top of the line Asus boards for 20+ years now always getting Deluxe versions or ROG boards, shoot I had the first ROG Formula board and I think it might even still be in storage :). I just couldn't justify the spend to myself this time as I was already throwing down a lot on other parts and wanted a new monitor which I'm loving.
