    GL703 SCAR gpu?

The teaser site for the SCAR edition is up:*https://www.asus.com/Laptops/ROG-Strix-SCAR-Edition/

However, it lists only a 1060gtx gpu on the specs page. Previously, news outlets and asus reported this model as having up to a 1070. Can we get some clarification ok whether this changed?

I was looking at this notebook as a possible alternative to the GL502VS-DS71. Also, any info on pricing/availability would be awesome

    ROG STRIX SCAR EDITION
    "Rank High.
    Absolute Precision.
ROG Strix SCAR Edition is built exclusively for the sharpest shooters in the meanest gunfights —optimized to gain a competitive edge in FPS such as Counter-Strike®, Overwatch® and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six® Siege. Powered by the latest Intel® Core™ i7 processors and NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 10 Series graphics with a superfast 120Hz, 5ms display, styled with unique focus, and with desktop-style keyboard layouts engineered for victory, Strix SCAR Edition keeps you center on the battlefield — so you'll rank high, and kill with absolute precision!"

    Spec with best model/options - HM175 chipset, i7-7700HQ (Kabylake, 4C/8T, 2.8GHz~3.8GHz, 6MB cache, 45W TDP), 6GB GTX1060 (or maybe GTX1070), 120Hz 5ms display (resolution and panel type not specified), decent/average 64Wh battery, 180W external PSU/adapter, 512MB M.2/PCIe SSD and 1TB+8GB SSHD . Win10 Pro.

This isn't a leet-killer-pwnage fps gaming system by any means. It certainly exceeds the (not so heavy) system requirements of Counter Strike, Overwatch, and Rainbow Six Siege - but machines with faster CPUs and GPUs (and, probably RAM) will have a more "competitive edge in FPS" than this one.

It has the usual HDMI 1.4 and mini-DP output ports, audio jacks, USB, etc, so you could plug it into a 4K monitor and external gaming keyboard/mouse. (Good luck trying to get "absolute precision" on a touchpad, lol.)
"All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated and well supported in logic and argument than others." - Douglas Adams

Well, the main GL703 marketing site updated:

The standard edition will ship with up to a 1060gtx, which is more than the configs listed for preorder at excaliburpc. I'm still hopeful that the "scar" edition marketing site has not yet been updated with final configs, so I'm optimistic that we'll get a 1070 option.

Keeping my fingers crossed as this chassis looks superior the GL702!

Has anyone heard anymore on the GL703? I'm holding off my purchase of the new MSI Raider in hopes that Asus was able to control the thermals with the update to the 702.

Is the 703 the same chassis as the 702? Is the thermal system the same?

Lastly, what's the release date looking like?

Product page went live today https://www.asus.com/Laptops/ROG-Strix-SCAR-Edition/

GL503VD (SCAR Edition) GL503VM (SCAR Edition) have 1050 and 1060 respectively. No VS is listed...

It's important to note that the panels on these both list as TN... WTF

    15.6-inch Full HD (1920 by 1080) TN panel, 120Hz, 5ms, 72% NTSC

    Absolutely. I have a GL702 but the GL703 chassis looks much better, but I wouldn't settle for a 1060.

    Hi wintermoot,

There is a VS version with GTX 1070 8GB, and IPS panel with 144Hz refresh rate.
