I've just had an attempt there, and no success.

    I disabled the:
    SATA controllers
    3x USB controllers
    Wifi Ac
    Wifi Ad
    Bluetooth
    Sound card

    and pulled a video card.

    But it wasn't enough evidently.

    Curious

I was having all the same issues. I had to re-install windows using a install utility that included the creators update.

Has any one seen any progress with this issue? Is future updates going to be an issue?

I have not imagined a hard drive to mobo to windows issue in any form. One would think a standard would be used by now, but I guess pushing edge tech on M2 might have to shake up the standard a little.

Any how, hope this issue gets resolved by Microsoft and friends before another major update hits.

Given that the underlying cause hasn't been addressed by ASUS, then we're looking at a repeat of this with the next big Win10 update. So far that doesn't have a PR friendly name, it's just called Redstone 4.

    Thumbs up Redstone 4

: ( nothing in Redstone 4 looks all that useful. Not that this is a helpful thought in any way. I might just end up cloning my drive to a different m2 and then making Asus, Microsoft and Samsung tickets for fun on my off time.

Redstone 4 may not be very interesting, but there's the other issue that we'll be stuck on a Win10 build that's two major update behind, and that's not something that MS are going to have much motive to provide updates for.

Just tried cloning to a SATA SSD and updating and it was an utter disaster. I'm having to rebuild my system completely.

Can I ask you guys, I am doing a new build this week with a new Rampage VI Extreme on my Samsung 960 Evo. I am using Parted Magic to do an NVME Secure Erase and used the Microsoft Media Creation tool yesterday to download and make a new install USB of Win 10 Pro. Do you think I will run into any issues, or are the fixes streamlined into the USB Creation Tool?

The media creation tool will grab the latest build, which will install as the FCU version anyway and thus bypass all this.

What does it mean "bypass all this..."?

This thread is about the issue with installing FCU as an update, you're doing it as a clean install.
