Samsung 960 pro M.2 + DiMM.2

St4v0
Level 7
I seem to be having a bad time with speeds maxing at 1700 read and write and when i checked Samsung magician it showed PCIe Gen 3 x 2.
According the manual the DiMM.2 card shares bandwidth with the U.2 port next to the sata's.
I've checked bios a number of times and cant find anywhere to disable U.2 to give the DiMM.2 card full bandwidth.
Any help please would be much appreciated.

The manual is actually a little confusing because it calls the onboard AND DIMM2 M.2 sockets M.2_1, however I believe only the onboard one (under the heatsink) shares bandwidth with the U.2. Regardless, the BIOS location is on page 13-6 of the manual. In the BIOS it's under "Onboard Devices Configuration"

PCIEX8/X4_4 Bandwidth

[X8 mode]
The PCIEX8/X4_4 slot will run at X8 mode for high performance with the
U.2 disabled.
[X4 mode]
The PCIEX8/X4_4 slot will run at X4 mode with the U.2 enabled.

thanks for the reply.
I tried altering the PCIEX8/X4_4 Bandwidth and set it to 8x.
However upon restarting it will always reverts it back to 4x.
very annoying and i just cant understand why so far.
and their doesn't seem to be the option to disable U.2 manually.

That's odd because U.2 should be disabled by default. Which BIOS are you running? Have you tried clearing CMOS?

I'm on the latest 801 bios.
I've tried resetting bios via the reset button on the back.
And I've tried resetting it from within bios and doing an F5 to defaults.
So far nothing, still the same outcome 😞

capitaltpt ,your 960 pro,how do you have yours connected?
and what kinda speeds do you get?
could you show a screenshot like mine for comparison please.

It seems silly that with this high end board you can disable almost everything, usb's sata,s on board sound, network, and the list goes on.
Why no option to disable the U.2 socket?

I have mine connected on the board under the heatsink. I'll run some benchmarks when I get home. Have you tried re-downloading and re-flashing the BIOS?

I can try that but i'm prety sure it will be the same.
