MD5 hashsum doesnt match as well... Asus is obviously too lazy to update the ME module within the BIOS file.

I did ask for the information that is in that .reg entry, so that I could add it myself, but no one wants to come forward with it.
Had the same issue than you. By the way I am a Linux user, and Intel could provide OS independent tools to update their spyware... Anyway, I used an external drive with Windows and I did not have to install the full software suite, only the MEI drivers from https://www.win-raid.com/t596f39-Int...tem-Tools.html (MEI driver only on section A1, file URL: http://www.mediafire.com/file/phv2ryf7bwq0hbo/). After this I was able to run the ASUS file.
ASUS could make an effort to package better their files. The driver updater in the ASUS archive did not work for me.
Also, I did not have to upgrade the UEFI, I am still on version 3401.

Finally, now that the MEI is not vulnerable anymore, we just need a tool to deactivate this crap...

You can't disable ME without disabling the whole computer. Well, in some cases you can use 30 min your computer without ME before it shuts down and in some cases it's possible to use stripped down version of ME without any side effects. If my memory serves, 6-series chipset and older computers can be used with ME disabled.. probably something like year 2005 and older models. AMD has a similar technology called TrustZone, but I have very little knowledge about it.

But generally: no, you can't disable ME, it's vital part of a modern computer and deeply integrated subsystem.

Garbage from sites like win-raid are factors in the problems users experience. Who knows what trial build, alpha, beta, or crap you are getting there. The site itself is "win-raid" as though we still need 2008 oroms to detect our bleeding edge ssds again. If people would just install the validated drivers and use their system we wouldn't have 9 page threads of people whining they can't apply a simple ME update. I mean come on there are kids here that didn't even know to extract the package or disable cut rate malware protection.

    Just this.

Please people, quit calling ASUS engineers "too lazy" and pretending your skills are anywhere near the skills of the engineers actually making this stuff. When you think of whining about ASUS step back and think "what motherboard have I designed lately?" and when you remember you haven't just be quiet. And if you have then why aren't you using it?

    @ondersma80,
oh, well, ok. Then why do both files, from W-R and ASUS, have exactly same file sizes and hash sums? What has been validated here? If you do not know, the updated ME firmware appeared on W-R week(s) earlier before Asus rolled it out.
    And again:

"Please download the file and check the MD5 code first.
    MD5: bd4f2b48d7507e44db17fb5a585f85b6"
Why the hell MD5 doesnt match with downloaded file?? Whats wrong with them?
So, if you say so, you probably are downloading the graphics drivers from their site as well, not from NVIDIA´s or whatever. No? Why? Its been validated by Asus. So go on.

P.S. I am done with discussions.

    Question Issues updating ME firmware

I'm having some issues applying the ME firmware. I have BIOS 3504 (06/29/2017).

I've been able to installed the Management Engine Interface drivers to 11.7.0.1040

After running MEUpdateTool.exe (from MEUpdateTool_UI_20171103_TP) and rebooting, I check the FW/error.log, and it contains the following:

"Error 8719: Firmware update cannot be initiated because Local Firmware update is disabled"
If I run the command "FWUpdLcl64.exe -f ME.bin" manually, I get the following output:

    FWUpdLcl64.exe -f ME.bin

Intel (R) Firmware Update Utility Version: 11.8.50.3399
Copyright (C) 2007 - 2017, Intel Corporation. All rights reserved.

    Communication Mode: MEI

Error 8719: Firmware update cannot be initiated because Local Firmware update is disabled
    And running MEInfoWin.exe from Intel:

I've noted that Local FWUpdate is set to "Disabled" but I have no idea how to enable this setting or if it's actually needed. Anyone else stuck in the same situation?

Again, I've been able to successfully install the MEI drivers, but the firmware is still stuck on 11.0.0.1163 H

    Any ideas?

so i managed to install it. What i did is:
    1. updated my Bios to 3504.
    2. installed the newest chipset driver for intel Management Engine Consumer. restarted PC.
    3. used the MEUpdate Tool. restarted PC.
    Edit:
Make sure, every program beside windows system programs are closed.

Did you verify that your firmware was updated? MEUpdate tool told me that it had successfully applied firmware but when checking log file there's the error I mentioned above and the intel detection tool which can be downloaded from https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27150 (run DiscoveryTool.GUI/Intel-SA-00086-GUI.exe) says it's the same old version still.

The intel detection tool also contains MEInfoWin.exe where you can get that raw output that I pasted above.

yes, i have. Mine is patched. And the Device Manager of Windows says it too. Make sure, you really restarted your pc after installing the chipset driver.
