RE6 7980XE high Idle consumption - why? [Solved]

[Solved] The Corsair psu shows wrong power consumption with Corsair Link Software.

Hi,

i own a ASUS ROG Rampage V Edition with a 6950X which use in Idle 90 watts

now with the R6E & 7980XE its now 160+ watts in Idle.

(with the same Hardware and Intel Defaults settings no overclocking / voltages are set manually to default).

Disable the 10GB LAN did not improve the idle consumption (which maybe use 10-20 watts)

Intel Core i9-7980XE @ Noctua NH-D15S
ASUS ROG Rampage VI Extreme UEFI 1004
MSI GTX 1080 Ti Lightning Z SLI
Kingston HyperX Savage DIMM Kit 128GB, DDR4-2666, CL15
Samsung SSD 960 PRO 2TB
2x Samsung SSD 840 PRO (512GB)
Plextor PX-L890SA
Corsair AX1500i Titanium
Lian Li TYR PC-X2000F @bequiet Silentwings USC

How much need your System?
Maybe i missed a UEFI setting.

Thanks for help!

If we set aside everything else (including comparing power draw across platforms), with an additional 8 extra cores what did you expect?

I understand you but 8 extra cores cant cost 70 watts more when Intel use high efficent power saving modes.

System use in full load (Aida64 Stresstest) 350 watts thats "only" 190 Watt higher than idle.

(As i said its 160+ watts sometimes 180-200w / 160 is the lowest idle consumption)

How are you measuring it?

ATM with the Corsair AX1500i Titanium, but i will buy/search a device for measuring.

Idle: 130 Watt
Aida64 Stresstest CPU: 300 Watt
Aida64 Stresstest CPU + GPU: 711 Watt

I got now a device for measuring:

it shows 130 watts which seem more real.

Maybe i can get a better or a second device to verify the 130w.

125W idle here
