Hi, I am looking for some help with my Asus ROG gl551jw. I am not extremely computer savvy, but I know enough to get by most of the time. The laptop is about 1.5 years old and it is my only computer. Everything about it has been pretty good, though I will likely get a desktop as my next primary computer because the limitations of having a laptop have been a major problem for me. Within the first 6 months I had a key crack and had to send it in for repair under my warranty. Since my warranty has expired two additional keys have cracked, but I have managed to tape them together and they are basically unnoticeable. The biggest problem is about a month or two ago I noticed that my A key was failing. Every so often it will become unresponsive for no reason lasting a second or two before working again. This has gotten a bit worse since then and is happening more frequently. It is highly aggravating when I play games competetively or when I am typing long texts. Since my warranty has expired I was looking into DIY fixes as I have done on previous laptops. I was planning on buying an entire replacement keyboard and I found some through Google. Before I did this though I wanted to see how difficult it would be to replace. I couldn't find any exact tutorials on replacing the keyboard, but I found some on opening up the laptop in general. I managed to disassemble the laptop without a problem, but the issue was that unlike other laptops I've had, I had to literally take out everything else before I could even get to the keyboard. Once I finally got to the keyboard I discovered it is so heavily stuck on with tape and other things that I had no idea how to take it off. So even if I bought the new keyboard it doesn't seem I'd be able to attach it. Additionally, once I put everything back together and logged into a game I found I was getting worse ping plus frequent lag spikes that I've never had before. I have the internet hardwired into the laptop by the way, not wifi. Basically the whole disassemble was a waste of time and it seems something new has broken because of it even though I was extremely gentle. I am hoping someone can tell me if I did something incorrect and there is a way to remove and replace the current keyboard. Also what could I have done wrong to cause the new lag? I don't have the funds to purchase a whole new computer at the moment, but if it was really necessary I could send it in to a professional to be fixed (how long could that take/how much would it cost?). I attached two images. One is the back of the keyboard from the inside of the laptop and the other is from the outside. I realize it is a bit dirty and I was hoping to clean it if I was able to actually get the keyboard out. Any help would be appreciated.
