There will be updates. Lots of boards, so it takes time to get things ready.

It's pretty much everything since Skylake (Original 6 series, not Skylake-X), right?

I don't envy having to provide updates for all of that.

Would be much appreciated if someone from ASUS could post an announcement here so we dont have to continually check the update page.

We'll need urgently help from Shamino our friend ROG BIOS writer here. Me and my friend already patched our system via our method since ASUS RAMPAGE 4 EXTREME. However his APEX and my EXTREME had the same problem here .

So I figured I would update ME FW on my Asus Apev VI. It had version 11.10.0.1287. I updated to version 11.11.50.1402. Process went smoothly, all looked to be good, powered down and booted back up. I am still able to access bios and get into windows but I am getting version 0.0.00 in bios for ME FW. I tried to go back to original version but I get an error message telling me ME is in error state. I have tried reflashing bios versions but does not solve issue. Cannot load any ME drivers, they now say not compatible with system. Is there a method to undo my screwup?
According to ASROCK and EVGA forum both said. Intel didn't fix X299 platform SA-00086 already yet now. They'd fixed only Z370 and other Intel 100/200
    series.

After chat with Intel support many times, The intel 11.11.50.1422 was the firmware to patch SA-00086 for X299 and many platform in their list.
Please check intel firmware for patch SA-00086 vulnerable list here.
    https://security-center.intel.com/ad...nguageid=en-fr

However they didn't know ASUS locked or write protected those firmware update via SPI or something in R6E and othe ASUS x299 Mobo BIOS code.

    ASROCK info about SA-00086.

EVGA has stated they'll update X299 BIOS next month i
    https://forums.evga.com/FindPost/2738113

As an update, we plan to roll out BIOS updates for the following motherboard/laptop chipsets over the next month to address this specific issue:

    In no particular order:
    X299
    E299 EVGA X299 Dark
    E297 EVGA X299 FTW K
    E295 EVGA X299 Micro ATX

    Z370
    E379 EVGA Z370 Classified K
    E377 EVGA Z370 FTW
    E375 EVGA Z370 Micro ATX

    Z270
    E279 EVGA Z270 Classified K
    E277 EVGA Z270 FTW K
    E272 EVGA Z270 Stinger

    Z170
    E179 EVGA Z170 Classified 4-Way
    E178 EVGA Z170 Classified K
    E177 EVGA Z170 FTW
    E172 EVGA Z170 Stinger

    Notebooks:
    SC17 980M
    SC17 1080 4KG
    SC17 1070
    SC17 1070 4KG
    SC15 1060G

Please note that by providing a BIOS update, this does not mean that you are necessarily in any imminent danger from the reported vulnerability. However, we will encourage you to update your motherboard BIOSes when these are available.
The best choice for all of us here is " wait until Asus releases a new BIOS with v.11.11.X.XXX ME firmware. All manufacturers should provide one in
    the close future. "

Maybe Shamino will release some beta BIOS for us on next few day. Hopeful the vulnerable SA-00086 will be patched soon.

Relax folks, there are a lot of platforms to address. Intel let this go for a couple of years and now manufacturers are getting rained on for Intel's shortcomings.
Too many are going freaky deaky over this like they are standing in the town square with their pants down.
This will take some time as this is addressing A LOT
of products. All Intel 6, 7 and 8 generation cpus including all products, not just mother boards and not just consumer. If the item has a PCH its affected.

Also be aware of the language barrier at work in a lot of posts. This is not a UEFI update.

Intel's Management Engine resides in the PCH (Platform Controller Hub). Its a computer within a computer. It runs its own OS, on its own CPU, and allows remote control to configure and/or wipe machines over a network. OS up or not.

ASUS does not create the IME firmware and no other board manufacturer has it yet for the X299 because Intel has not yet provided it.

Can we please keep this to ASUS, What Asrock, EVGA, Gigabyte etc are doing is irrelevant and only causes confusion and discontent particularly when incorrect information is given.

Raja stated they are working on it and ASUS briefs are showing a Target date of Jan 2018 for most items with some already being releaseed. Again, ASUS cant just patch Intels PCH firmware. Once Intel patches it, it filters down and the various vendors supply the tools.

ETA for new builds is end of Dec/early Jan. However, that's just for an MRC update. The builds are currently in the validation phase. As soon as I receive them, I will post them in the sticky UEFI update thread. We are still awaiting Intel's response on the ME firmware update.

Good news for everyone here. After long a waiting for ME SA-00086 vulnerable patch. However after chat with ASUS customer support I'd like to advise ASUS more.

My local ASUS customer support address that there are no function just like BIOS copy same as RAMPAGE IV EXTREME ages anymore since R5E.
So if users use RAMPAGE 5 Extreme or higher over warranty period. (more than 3 years just like me on R4E now). If the 1st BIOS bricked down or
corrupted there are only RMA option to solve this case. The point from here is cost to repair ( labour part , shipment part , replace part cost, etc)
of R5E or higher are higher than Rampage IV Extreme a lot.

In case of old model there could be BIOS 2 copy to BIOS 1 tools on BIOS which use in emergency case that BIOS 1 failed. Users not worry about
times used for RMA process especially when the warranty period runout.

I've planning to use R6E about 6 + year like R4E on my offices. Feel many concern to here that. Hope next BIOS revision ASUS add BIOS 2 copy to BIOS 1 features
on next BIOS release. These will help people whom use more than 3+ years.

And I hope from ASUS was the last period of R6E just like R4E that allow user to use XEON-W CPU on the system, too. :P

    FTW ROG RAMPAGE VI EXTREME.

Update :: Intel SA-00086 EVGA already fixed.
Look like our friend from EVGA got the same firmware with ME for their new BIOS release 3 days ago.

Hope full ASUS could bring us before Christmas. greeting everyone.
