Asus Zephyrus GX501 OEM Power Adapter - Has anyone found one yet?

Howdy folks,

Has anyone managed to source an OEM power adapter? Not a cheap chinese knockoff or a different branded adapter. Literally the same thing as what ships with the laptop.

I picked up my GX501VIK last month and can return the system to microsoft until the end of jan. If I can't get a second OEM power adapter it will be a deal breaker to me and sadly i'll have to part ways with the system. This system came out over six months ago, it's pretty amazing that the power adapters are nowhere online.

I love this system otherwise, even with the display whining when brightness is above 90%, with the occasional black screen upon resume or boot up and the flimsy bottom panel that seriously bends in the middle if I have it on my lap on a couch or chair. There's just nothing else out there with the same light weight + 120hz gsync panel + solid feeling build.

From what I have found on google:

- Reviews of vendor quality. https://www.resellerratings.com/store/Laptop_Battery_Express

I don't care if i'm paying 250$+ for a power adapter. I just want an actual ASUS one from a reputable seller.

Why the urgent need for two?
If its broken return the machine or get one under warranty.

The only place Ive picked up OEM parts for any ASUS product has been HERE

I want to keep a laptop charger in a backpack and one at home for a multitude of reasons.

If it suddenly dies I cannot be SOL for an unknown period of time while I wait for a warranty replacement through a company notorious for long waiting times for customer service and warranty requests. The last ASUS laptop I sent in for warranty repair took over a month before they shipped me back a different model. I had to nag them to get any reply back and go outside of the typical support process (e.g. nag social media).

Regardless... I have a month and a half to return the laptop for the full purchase price. If they can't get chargers by then they may never have them. My alternative is to just buy a 1080ti for my desktop and to buy a cheaper lighter laptop with a longer battery life. If I just buy a 1080ti i'll have 2k in my pocket for a laptop with what I want next year, probably with a 1100 series GPU.

But really...

Chargers are the most trivial thing - if a company can't sell spares and they aren't good for warranty support - what other issues might I not be able to fix down the road? I've worked in IT now for almost a decade. I know all about laptops and the challenges of repairs with them... you're basically at the mercy of the vendor.

It's not like I bought some garbage black friday 200$ laptop. I have a higher expectation for a company trying to sell me a 'best in class' product. I'm not worried about the cost of receiving support either - I want quality.

edit: GX501 parts aren't on that site. I saw a post by a reseller on reddit saying they are unable to source chargers for the Zephyrus.... though I can't find that post anymore. I've sent a request to the one you posted and also to XoticPC since they're a reseller of the laptop.

Not sure if you're in Canada.

No results for 0A001-00391200 (apparently this is the correct part number in fine print on the adapter I have)

Since I now have the part number... there are results for it in various euro asus part stores. All of them say no stock for 20+ days.

This non-english one is the 29th: https://webshop.looppartners.com/asus-ac-adapter-230w-195v/cat-p/c/p9843589/cc_sek/l_sv

This english one says 22 days, but when I put in my information it says I won't get it till jan 15th, even with next day air: https://www.eafsupplychain.com/Product/AU-0A001-00391200 Price is 154$ shipped, about what i'd expect for a 230w power brick. But since it's still not in stock.. I am extremely hesitant to order it.

Here they have it as call for availability. https://www.kingsfieldcomputers.co.uk/pgProduct.cfm?Product=19001_285_1460853-0A001-00391200--AC-ADA...

I appreciate the replies guys. Wish this was as simple as going to Amazon, Newegg, Zones, BestBuy, TigerDirect, or any of the US based resellers for a power adapter and punching in what i'm looking for.

I'm in the same boat here. My AC adapter model number for my Zephyrus is 0A001-00391000 though. I still haven't found a place to pick an OEM AC adapter, If I find one I'll post back.

I might suggest you to contact with the local service center to confirm where you could buy it.
The following is the contact information:

Well I got a reply back from XoticPC

Hello ! Thanks for your email! 🙂

I do apologize, ASUS is very strict about not giving us any additional or replacements on the chargers. We do not have any in our facility.

I'll try the asus service center so they can tell me ASUS isn't capable of providing additional adapters. I've got about one week before the 30 day warranty deadline is over, after that i'll almost certainly just return the laptop.

I've emailed them a request with:
Any idea where I can buy an additional power adapter for a GX501VIK serial# ?

Lets say I lost mine and have no adapter, what do I do to get another one? I have spent a few days looking for US and Europe based resellers and have found a total of 0 with the adapter in stock. I'm looking for an OEM adapter, not a chinese knockoff / generic.

Thanks.

Will give an update when I get more info.

Called it.

Hello ,

Thank you for contacting ASUS Technical Support.
My name is Rakeem D.

I do understand you have a purchase query, I did go ahead and checked our ASUS eShop and I do regret to inform you that we do not have the requested power adapter for a GX501VIK
{ ADAPTER 230W 19.5V 3P(6PHI) }
available.

You can however check with our authorized resellers. Linked below is our where to buy feature where you’ll find a complete list of resellers:

http://promos.asus.com/us/where_to_buy/

To assist with your search for the OEM adapter of the device a part number will be also provided
0A001-00391200

Later/Tomorrow i'll shoot off an email to the product inqury email for a chunk of authorized sellers. It's a wild goose chase though since it's obviously not available from the seller list. ASUS simply cannot supply laptop chargers for their 2700$ laptops. Lose yours? Have it stolen? Have your buddy's kid spill their drink on it? Yeah, might as well buy a new laptop.

I posted a link to OEM chargers if you must have two.
If your current one craps under warranty they will replace it.
