noob - USB 3.1 cable connector issue

Upgrading from a X99A2 to the new ROG Zenith Extreme mobo + Threadripper.
In disassembling my mobo was having huge problems disconnecting my USB 3.1 cable from my mobo.

I know it 'click's in place when inserting, but could not find any info in the manual or anywhere online on something so simple as removing it!

Anyways in removing it I believe I used too much force and snapped off the plastic connector sleeve which is attached to the mobo (see attached).

2 questions -

1- any chance I may have damaged the USB 3.1 pins on my old mobo?
and
2- how do I get the darn thing off?

If the pins stayed attached to the motherboard and didn't get tweaked then you're probably OK. As for getting it off you need to depress the clip and pull them apart. You could depress the clip and *gently* pry with a flathead screwdriver.
