Gameplus crosshair need to be improved

VG248QE native crosshair overlay is big and obstructive.

My suggestion is being able to adjust crosshair transparency (0-100%)

This thread must never die. But yeah, the crosshairs are completely useless. They're so large that they even block the target.
Found this gem describing the function on Asus' website.

"Select from four different crosshair to suit your gaming environment, and keep track of spawn and build times with the on-screen timer.
This function is co-developed with input from pro gamers, allowing them to practice and improve their gaming skills."

I can guarantee that no pro gamer would ever suggest these obstructive, unnecessarily flashy crosshairs. Doubt even a FPS gamer had a say in this decision, which is kinda ironic for a software developed by someone called "Republic of Gamers".

Aaaanyhow. Please make it an option to have one of the smaller suggested crosshairs. It's a great feature, and I hate to no use it because of it's terrible design.

These are among the make or break things for some. The crosshairs I see implemented seem absolutely useless, and the fact that they are said to be large and obstructive makes it even worse. It should be rather simple to make a simple dot or small crosshair that do not obstruct the view (this is what mostly every gamer looking for a crosshair want). I know several companies makes monitors with the same panels, and some do not have crosshairs, some have much better crosshairs - so there should be an interest both for Asus and the consumers to make usable crosshairs that people would want to use. It is sad to see that the thread is this old, with the OP making such a fine post with images and all, and noone from Asus has even considered it worth the time to comment on this at all - but this often happens when companies grow big, as there is too many posts to cover. I hope there will be a response eventually though, wether or not they want to adress this

It's a shame that they can't update their older monitors to get the same crosshairs that the newer monitors have like the PG27UQ for example.
Would love to have those dots on the PG279Q.

I created an account just for this. Is inconceivable to me that, from the two displays that I brought at the very same day, the 24" PG258Q have two very obstructives and obnoxious crosshairs with just two colors to chose, while the 27" display have the same two, plus another (very reasonable) Dot Crosshair, but also with just two colors.

How there is no Firmware update for both displays? The LEAST I could expect from very expensive displays, and from a company that sells them as the very best for gaming, are firmware updates that give the Dot Crosshair option to the PG258Q just like the PG27UQ, and also allows you to choose the crosshair color and transparency.

I can't seem to find any info on firmware updates for monitors, so I guess we're SOL. IMO you should return the 24" one and buy something else. No point being stuck with an old monitor with outdated features. If it's a second monitor for you (ie. you won't have games running on it) just buy something much cheaper with lower specs.

While I'm glad to see that newer monitors have a dot option; and I don't even care about the only 2 colors bit; I'm a bit disappointed that there hasn't been a driver update for the old monitors. Especially as they basically lied to us saying these crosshairs were designed with "pro-gamers" being consulted..... like... no.. Dave from Accounting is not a "pro-gamer", no matter what he tells you.

Still undecided if my next monitor will be from Asus..
