Cooling Fins :



The Thermal technology keeps everything cool no matter the workload. PC cooling used to keep temperatures within a specified range to avoid software crashes and prevent damage to the components. Today, staying in the thermal sweet spot can also influence performance by allowing the CPU and GPU to maintain higher Turbo and Boost frequencies.



Duo Thermal gives each chip its own heatsink and a powerful 12V fan to ensure optimal cooling even when the system is fully loaded. The GL503 has an intelligent thermal design that employs heat pipes and dual fans to automatically adjust the cooling system for optimized CPU and GPU performance. The specially-crafted venting holes above the keyboard and in the bottom of the laptop allow more intake of cool air. The upgraded 12V fans, which spin at higher speeds compared to traditional 5V blades, drive strong airflow to boost cooling efficiency, so you’re free to run the CPU and GPU at full speed without thermal throttling. An additional fan-boost function further increases cooling performance and guarantees total stability.

The Strix GL503 has 2 x USB 3.0 Type A port on left side, a HDMI port, Mini – Display port, 3.5mm audio jack, RJ-45 cable network jack, Power input jack.



The right side of the laptop contains 2X USB 3.0 Type A port, 1xUSB 3.1 type –C and SD Memory Card slot.

Keyboard:



The ROG Strix GL503 has an Anti-Ghosting Keyboard with N-Key roll over. This greatly helps the gamers while playing. As Gamers press the keyboard for very fast actions, Other keyboards might miss a key press which will result in game loss. But in GL503 with the N key roll over, We can press 30 keys simultaneously and it will still register the correct key presses.

The Keyboard has a desktop-like spacing around the function keys and greater isolation for the arrow keys. A new cluster of dedicated hotkeys offers quick access to volume, mute, and our ROG Gaming Center utility.

Over Stroke Technology:



ROG-exclusive Overstroke technology applies to every key you press, ensuring perfectly-pitched maximum peak force of 62 grams-force (gf). Key presses are registered early, accurately and with extended over stroke technology – and that means faster and smoother control.
Each key has 1.8 mm of travel complemented by our Over stroke technology, which moves the actuation point closer to help you keep up with the rapid, repeated action required by fast-paced gameplay. Support for n-key rollover allows precise recognition of many simultaneous keystrokes. The keyboard also comes with a guaranteed 20 Million presses.
Aura RGB backlighting is the cherry on top, bringing customizable backlighting that lets you set different colors and effects across four distinct zones using our intuitive Aura Core software.
In the upper left corner of the keyboard is equipped with four quick function keys, the top right you can find the most important power button, the lower tooth along the touchpad, support for gesture operations and multi-touch function.

Laptop D Door Feature:



The laptop backside also features special use of two different lines of design. There is also a door for easy access and upgrade of DRAM & Storage.To Access the D Door , we need to remove only 1 screw to open the door and upgrade the RAM or Storage.

Gaming Center:



The ROG Gaming Center is a 1 stop application for all the needs of the user. It can be opened by pressing the dedicated ROG Key on top of the keyboard.The complete device information is displayed on the left and the speed of CPU & GPU is displayed at the center. The Gaming center has a number of options from freeing up RAM Space, Turbo Gear Function, Setting up Gaming profiles.

Free Up Memory:



When we click the FREE UP MEMORY option in the gaming center, it closes the unwanted applications which are running behind and frees up the RAM memory. We can optimize this by clicking the setting function button next to it. Here all the processes and applications running in the laptop is displayed and we can select which all to be closed when we click the FREE UP MEMORY button.

Turbo Gear:



The Turbo gear option opens up when we click the turbo Gear function in the Gaming center. Here we can see 3 options namely Standard, Extreme& Manual.
The Standard & Extreme are preset functions where extreme will make the laptop operate in the top performance. In the Manual Mode we can change the clock offsets and set it as per our requirement. When we click Apply the selected mode will get activated.
Clock Offset :
The Clock Offset means,The changes done to the Memory or the Frequency of the CPU & GPU from their default values.

Game Profile:



In the Game profile option we can configure different profiles for different games. We can setup the Fan overboost, Aura, Splendid and then save the settings to 1 profile. So whenever we play that particular game the profile will get activated. We can et upto 3 Different Game profiles in the ROG Gaming Center.



There are more functions in the gaming center when we click the down arrow at the bottom. They are ROG Aura App , Fan overboost, Asus Splendid Technology, ROG Game First IV, Xplit Gamecaster, Sonic Radar, Sonic Studio, Shortcut for Nvidia Geforce.

ROG Aura:



After Selecting the ROG Aura App, Select Zone Mode Select BreathSelect Colour CombinationClick Apply . We can set upto 3 different profiles in the AURA App.

Asus Splendid Technology:



Using the Asus Splendid technology we can adjust the colour temperature of the laptop. It has four in built modes in it. When we select the Eye Care mode, it reduces the blue light and makes users to work for long time in the laptop. Vivid mode is used when we want to watch a movie with beautiful colours or see photos. We also have an option of manually changing the colour temperature using the manual mode.

Game First IV:



The Game First IV application can be opened from ROG Gaming Center. Here we can see all the applications which are currently running in the laptop. This greatly enhances the gameplay because the games get exclusive bandwidth from the network.



We can assign the priority for applications to use the internet. We can also block an application here from using the network. Here users can access the network information being used in the computer.

Xplit Game Caster:



Whether improving your high scores, tearing through a difficult boss or simply playing a game whilst a friend or family member watches your progress, it’s likely at some point in time if you’ve played a game; you’ve done it in the presence of others.

Now thanks to ever improving internet bandwidth speeds and popular video platforms such as Twitch, YouTube Gaming and Hitbox, players are able to share their gameplay live as it happens for the world to see.
Live Streaming and recording gameplay has allowed for gamers to create communities that span continents, connect with far-flung friends and above all else share their favorite pastime with the world.



Here we can link our Twitch, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter accounts and directly live stream to these platforms. Just need to click Authorize to stream and it will pop up an authentication window where we need to give the access to xplit to use the platform.



After setting up the account, In the settings tab we can change the stream settings on what quality to play, to use In- Game overlays or not Etc.



After setting up the Xplit, We just need to open the game and press the CTRL+TAB hotkey to open up the Xplit In game overlay. Here when we click the Stream Button, It will automatically start to stream in the different Platforms of Twitch, YouTube or Facebook. We can also record our Game Play using Xplit without Streaming and use the video afterwards.

Sonic Radar:



Gain a strategic gaming advantage with Sonic Radar software and the ROG STRIX GL503. The Sonic Radar software dynamically analyzes in-game audio for gun shots and foot-steps to pinpoint other players and present a visual in-game overlay. The overlay lets gamers determine where their enemies are for that extra advantage over the competition.





In the Above In game pictures we can see the Sonic Radar giving us a competitive edge while playing the games by showing us from where the sound of the enemy is coming from.

Sonic Studio:



The ROG STRIX GL503’s Sonic Studio audio combines hardware and software tuning to deliver ideal acoustic profiles for a variety of activities. Custom profiles give users complete control over audio enhancements. You can create your own profile to manipulate specific frequencies and then save and share the configuration with others.



It also provides a record studio and casting enhancer. In the record studio we change the equalizer options, noise cancellation and reduction.




The Strix GL503 VD is equipped with Intel Core i7 7700HQ 2.80 GHZ processor for the four-core eight thread architecture, and with 6MB L3 Cache, the motherboard is Intel HM175 Chipset.

Processor performance tests, the CPU-Z single thread performance test results gave 382 points, the multi- threaded performance test results gave 1925 points.
