Replacement power adapter for a GL702VS

Hey,

So I was hoping someone here could help me. I am trying to find a source for a second power adapter for my GL702VS-AH73 and have run into a fun issue.

This particular laptop uses a 6.0mm ×3.7mm sized barrel plug on a 230W adapter. The G-Series AC adapter asus markets and sells is a 7.4mm x 5mm sized plug.

It is an 19.5v 11.8a 230W adapter with part number : ADP-230EB T (Very common adapter) but its Revision A.02. Its literally identically to the widely available units but with a different plug size.

I am really trying to find a method of obtaining one of these that does not involve me ordering something direct from china from Ebay, or direct from china via a few websites. I am not opposed to ordering from China in and of itself, but I tend to be very strict when it comes to power and would like to make certain the adapter I order will have decent build quality.

I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction to find this thing. According to Asus Support, its not an item they sell, which if this is indeed a non standard size, is frustrating because it means I will literally have to direct order this from China as nobody else will ever carry it.

Has anyone else had any experience ordering one of these power bricks? I'd really appreciate any information you can give me.

Ordering it direct from china via ebay is 150 bucks and at this point, if I don't have any other options, I'm going to attempt to just locate the barrel plug itself and hack together something from one of the standard power bricks.

Did you have any luck? I find myself in the same predicament, and need a spare AC adapter for my GL702VS-RS71 to keep in my laptop bag. When I search I find a variety of adapters but with differing sizes. One place does have the 6.0mm ×3.7mm plug you mentioned that ships from China, but I am still unsure if the quality.

Do you have the link?

Many thanks.. Ouch, $186 for a power supply.

I found some similar plugs; and I bought (accidentally) an adaptor of 7.4mm pin (that's the outer diameter).
I found this plug: https://www.allelectronics.com/item/dcp-6/co-ax-power-plug-w/center-pin-6-x-4.3-x-1/1.html
which looks similar and of the correct outer diameter. When it arrives, I'll let you know if it fits or not..
If it fits, I'll cut the one from the new adaptor and attach this to it..

I find myself in the same situation as yourself, having accidentally ordered a 7.4mm version of the adaptor. The connector you ordered, did it work for you?

The Manual on page 26 gives the specifications of the adapter(s)
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/GL702VSK/0409_E12080_GL702VS_A.pdf

The power adapter may vary in appearance, depending on models
and your region.
IMPORTANT!
Power adapter information:
• Input voltage: 100-240Vac
• Input frequency: 50-60Hz
• Rating output current: 9.23A (180W) / 11.8A (230W)
• Rating output voltage: 19.5V

The Asus ROG G571JY has this exact AC Adapter which are sold everywhere.

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIAC5X6BR7858&cm_re=Asus_230-watt_AC_adapter-_-16J...

The tip should be the same for all AC Adapters with the same specs

I don't own this laptop but it should say in the USA 230wt 11.8a 19.5v version. The lower 180wt 9.23a 19.5v version will work fine, be smaller, weigh less, but not charge as fast (great for travel in most situations where you are going to be plugged in anyway)

I've never had an issue with Delta AC Adapters with specs to match. They're great and many manufactures ship the originals with Delta brand

Hope this helps 😄

The TIP is the problem; in MOST cases the outer diameter is 7.4mm, and not 6.00mm like we need.
I recently bought a power supply for my GL702ZC and was greeted with the 7.4mm plug that I cannot use.
I'm trying to find the 6mm plug now to replace the tip, and it's not easy.
In fact, I'm contemplating hacking the motherboard for a 7.4mm or even 5.5mm plug, because the 6mm is so hard to find.

I ordered the one listed above from Walmart and it does not fit. My GL702VS has a thinner AC input, needs the one that has a tip that looks like this:
