One of the benefits of patching my own BIOS is that I no longer have to care about when Asus will post an update. The Maximus VII Hero Z97 w/ i7-4790K is easy enough to patch. The instructions linked below are for the Rampage V Extreme, but the same principles apply to your motherboard, too. The only difference is, your motherboard requires MMTool.exe 5.0.0.7 due to it having an Aptio IV BIOS. pm me if you would like me to do it. Up to you.

A minor but important correction ...

"mmtool.exe" - which can be downloaded here or at several other sites.
NOT "mtool.exe" - which happens to be a common malware/virus file package, lol.

The response from @ASUS so far has been that they intend to provide new BIOS with these fixes but haven't yet had enough time to properly test them. Which I admit sounds a little fishy since a partial fix is still better than no fix and ASUS has been known to rush unworkable "beta" BIOS versions out before.

I'm scared to do that, and this is why I'm waiting for ASUS to release one. When ASUS going to release the dam BIOS? After WW3 ended perhaps? My Acer laptop will get the BIOS update in April.

So today i have update my Z77 Maximus V Formula UEFI by myself. Microcode 1F for my i7 3770k is inside and works great!
Easy to mod with UBU and flash via Flashback. Takes 10min i think.
After flash, set up all UEFI settings and now the system is save. At the next few days i will test the performence.
My i7 3770k is OC to 4,8GHz with low 1,248V i hope that will be now also stable

Fair enough. Yeah, it's a mystery why Asus is taking so long. They received microcode updates to test during the beta phase, and now there's a bunch of CPU microcode in the production phase. Intel has also released the entire updated microcode archive to the public. So I have no idea why Asus is claiming it hasn't had enough time to test BIOSes with the updated microcode.

Patched & updated my X99-A board too today and works like a charm. Updating the bios took about 5min including the download of the tools. The biggest problem was to find a flashback compatible usb drive to get things started. So if you don't want to wait for ASUS to do their job just do it yourself.
Anyway this was an important lessons in life. I will never again buy any ASUS product.

    Thx ASUS for nothing
