You can't compare this situation with professional Dell or Lenovo products that have often large business customers with long term contracts.

So they can't fix security problems because the boards are out of warranty? What a sh*t excuse. I will not going to use ASUS board on my next build at all. ASUS lost my trust.

Exactly! If I have to buy new again, I'm not going ASUS.

    So Long Rampage III Formula!

With Intel stating they will not patch older processors, like Bloomfield (my i7-920), I guess it is time to send my good 'ole RIIIF to sleep. The wife / kid usually get my hand-me-downs, but I guess not in this case...

Screw that. My R2E/i7-965 PC can still run BF1 and will be connected to the internet for at least another two years. That's when I build another $10K(NZD) PC, this time without a single Asus component. I find it useful to have two working desktop PCs in the home.

My next PC will be ASUS free. I'll spread to word till I die.

Anyone with a Z77 board, is there a foolproof, step by step guide to manually fix the bios?
    Thank you

I have updated my Maximus VII Hero with a 4790k using the instructions in this post.

    https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthrea...633#post700633

This post applies to our boards as well, it now passes the spectre test and haven't noticed any issues with system performance on windows 10.
