    Finally - BIOS update for G703 VI - now: v305 03/13/2018

Microcode is now: 84h (Kaby Lake)

Just wanna let you know that the new BIOS is available. Had no time for testing, but I think the CPU is now safe.

BIOS provided via Windows Device Manager -> Firmware -> Search for Updates.

The Support Website of ASUS still says: v302

This is from Asus regarding my Z97 Sabertooth Mark S, which has a 5 year warranty:

"Thank you for your response to ASUS product support, my name is Medard M.

Thank you for letting us know of your concern and I understand that your concern wasn't answered clearly regarding the BIOS update for Intel microcode. Since we have ruled out a few possible causes we can narrow the issue down and provide additional guidance.

I do apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you, but this motherboard model has already reached it's end of life or EOL and we're no longer providing BIOS updates for this model. "

I've asked him if it is Asus's intent to not honor the warranty: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards...Desk_Warranty/

They gave me the same crap answer. If you read through this thread you will see that on page 57 and 58 I have outlined exactly the same thing they said to you that they said to me. I do not recommend updating the microcode through bias on your own unless you know what you're doing. It is possible because I've done it for my Asus z97 Maximus formula VII motherboard. It would seem that they do not want to help us even though Intel has provided them the updated micro codes for Haswell and Broadwell which is what you're borard supports

I don't have any special insider knowledge but FWIW I used to work phone support for a different company and we were always the last to know about policy updates. So it's possible those phone reps are quoting standard policy rather than anything specific to spectre. In another thread Raja stated that if there is a fix it would be worked on. He did not provide any specifics however. So we have phone reps saying one thing and one of the HQ reps here saying something different.
