    Hello (redacted),

My name is Kristoffer H.. of ASUS product support.

I am contacting you regarding the progress of your case.

As much as I want to help you with your case, but our higher level department confirmed that SABERTOOTH Z97 MARK S will no longer received further update.

I apologize for the inconvenience of this revelation and all its implications and do hope that you may lend us your understanding on the matter.

    Have a great day!

In the event that you have additional concerns, please let me know and I will be happy to take care of them as well. Thank you for choosing ASUS.

    Sincerely,

    Kristoffer H.

    ASUS Product Support

Please make note of your case number for future reference: (redacted)

    Hey Kristoffer,

Thanks for the update. I do not consider this an acceptable solution. The Asus warranty states ASUS warrants Motherboard (Products) excluding (free) bundled accessories that may be delivered together with the Product, to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 36 or 60 month(s) depending on your specific model - the BIOS is defective as determined by Intel, who has supplied ASUS with the appropriate microcode to remedy the defective microcode. EVGA, Gigabyte, Asrock and others are providing updated BIOSes for their Z97 motherboards, and I consider it morally reprehensible and in violation of the warranty for ASUS to not do the same.

I understand you are no longer able to assist with this issue, so please forward me to the appropriate department or individual who can remedy the situation.

    Thank you.

ASUS can provide a motherboard patch or everyone I know for the rest of time will be reminded of how ASUS went out of their way to not stand by their products. I don't know why ASUS has decided this is a great way to lose customers, but I will devote every opportunity I'm given to take money from their pockets. #### this company. I get I can roll my own BIOS. That should not be required. This multi-billion dollar company should stand behind it's $300 motherboards. I'm going to enjoy telling my purchasing manager to cancel all ASUS orders and find a different vendor.

I've got a Maximus VII Formula motherboard, and I've been waiting patiently for an updated BIOS. The failure of ASUS to address a serious security flaw when its competitors are protecting their customers is inexcusable. I've purchased many ASUS products, but I won't anymore. And I'll discourage anyone else from buying their products due to their apparent lack of customer support on an important issue. Someone in ASUS management needs to take a refresher course in public relations.

MESSAGE TO EVERYONE, U DONT NEED TO WAIT FOR ASUS TO GIVE U A BIOS UPDATE
Apparently microsoft are patching microcode via windows update
how do i know this? well apparently my pc is protected even though asus have not issued a bios update for my ASUS X99-A motherboard (last update was december 2017)
im an windows insider, so this may be why i have the protection and u guys dont,, so if u wanna update your microcode, install a new build run the updates and BAM,, and then go back to your usual O.S
    here is some proof
    https://i.imgur.com/mad5gl1.png

been waiting like 1 month for asus to activate my account here to type this

btw if u wanna talk about this more, find me on reddit, i wont be around here much

i just made an account to tell u guys/girls/attack helicopters this

i may also be wrong about the windows insider thing, but im suspecting its microsoft who patched me

Only listed processors here are updatable through the update available on the same page :
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...rocode-updates

You will need to update your CPU with a BIOS update if this update doesn't apply to you.

The Microsoft fix is not a permanent fix. It is loaded into volatile memory each time Windows boots. So whilst it does the job it is not as good as a BIOS fix.

My name is Kristoffer H.. of ASUS product support.

I am grateful for your time and patience as we go through the process of resolving your concern. I have engaged our support staff and we were able to come up with the best course of action given your case.

Unfortunately, our firmware engineers have limited resources and we are unable to update all the end of life motherboards. We are very sorry about this.

Fortunately, Intel has their own firmware to update microcode, please install LInux and flash the firmware from this website:
    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/dow...le?product=873

If there is any questions pertaining this Linux Microcode data, please contact Intel. We did not create or make this firmware update.

Thank you for the opportunity to address this matter with you. We value you as an important ASUS customer and we want to ensure your experience with us is fulfilling.

    Have a great day!

In the event that you have additional concerns, please let me know and I will be happy to take care of them as well. Thank you for choosing ASUS.

    Sincerely,

    Kristoffer H.

Please make note of your case number for future reference

Could be if it wasn’t doing it before. It is possible to disable the mitigations with a registry settting to test performance without protection.*
