LinusTechTips tried one of those adapters and found that SODIMMs were unstable at rated speeds and incompatible with standard desktop DIMMs (no mix & match). I don't know if there are better adapters but just make sure to read reviews on any adapter you might consider before you click buy.

That is for 6th, 7th, and 8th gen CPU. 4th gen and below requires a BIOS update. ASUS will not going to patch all Z87, Z97, and X99 boards. So if you have a 4th gen board(Z87, Z97, or X99), you are not protected against Spectre unless you BIOS mod yourself or wait for ASUS to release a dam BIOS.

I have a 4th gen Z97 board from ASUS, and I can tell you that I am not protected against Spectre at all without the BIOS.

    Hope Windows do the same.
That is PTI = meltdown, which is Intel specific, entirely patched in the OS and has very little impact on performance. It is a Spectre variant that requires a microcode update for both AMD and Intel and affectsd performance significantly in some areas.

Anyone notice that the advisory page (see first post) is updated with new BIOS?

So looks like my x99-Deluxe has a beta BIOS --- anyone want to test it for me?

An Asus Manager told me there would be no BIOS available for my Z97 Sabertooth but did correct their previous Support agents and affirmed my Mobo was supported through 2020. I pointed out 3503 was listed from January and if they would not refund me nor would they support me, what the course of action would be, and today the 3503 BIOS is listed for my motherboard.

It's listed as a Beta, which makes me a little nervous, so I'm going to research how to flash back to the old one if I have to.
