You don't have too, that is what the new bios is for. Asus new bios will have the new Intel microcode baked in. All you have to do is update the bios, and keep your OS updated.

    Hi,

I have a 5930k and the Rampage V extreme first version, when i check the list of updated BIOS i can't see my motherboard. Does it means that i will never have the spectre vulnerability mitigated on my system ?

There are 3rd party utilities available that are able to update the ucode without the need to flash the BIOS. However, I would strongly recommend waiting for a BIOS revision containing the updated ucode.

Never have spectre vulnerability mitigated update potentially all Intel PreWestmare CPUs.
Apart from need update all KMDF device drivers(PCI-E devices, AHCI/NVME controllers, USB Hub devices, chipset comments,SuperIO devices , Network devices (LAN/WLAN/Fibre/Optical) and then firmware for desscrease penalty from VA Shadowing/Spectre vulnerability mitigate.

Do we have any chance to obtain updated firmware for Ivy Bridge MB's? I understand, that the answer also depends on the availability of Intel microcodes, which are still unofficial even for mentioned by you CPU's, but may be you can give us a hope?

    Thank you in advance.

    Dear.
Intel officialy do not answer for my question for availability new uCodes for Sandy/Ivy Bridge
processors (last available public version 2013 year(integrated in Windows 10 by default) ).
On current version uCodes for Sandy/Ivy Bridge active only VA Shadowing protection without HW support PCID (add more performance penalty).

AMD has an equivalent to Intel ME since 2013 in all their cpus. They claim EPYC is more secure but I would not believe that as it still has a similar function.

On the whole - besides price point and occasional open sourcing - AMD is worse than Intel. Their lower market share results in less fuss aboout exploits and bugs, but they also have unfixable microcode bugs like Intel.

Intel ME is part PCH components(and then may fully disable with special version UEFI (version for governmental structures)),not part CPU.
On AMD this equivalent have ability for disable on "civilian" consumer devices.
