The description states that it's pretty obvious halo-ing from the angle recorded, but unnoticeable when viewing head on. That should be reasonable as local-dimming issues should only occur in games, which you always look at head on.

I wonder why the halo is more visible when looking from the side

I think people are a little too obsessed and OCD with Halo... I mean it was an amazing game, but its time has passed.

...because the IPS-LCD subpixel - which change their chemical and physical orientation to block the backlight, or let it pass - can‘t block to the sides... (it leaks to the sides, but not so much to the front) so if you look off-angle you will see some backlight through them...

It is the same reason, why you see ips-glow from off-angle!
It is nothing else than leaking backlight...
If you go straight angle - it vanishes...

Often people with bigger monitors see ips glow at the sides, but not in the middle -
that is because periphery of the monitor is normally kind of off-angle...

But don‘t confuse BackLightBleed with IpsGlow...

Backlightbleed means that the LCD doesn‘t block the Light to the front -
IPS glow is normal for IPS panels and vanishes if you change the angle....!
