Well speaking of that look what showed up a few hours ago.

"After a meeting with Vijay Sharma – Product Management Leader for NVIDIA G-SYNC- in London this afternoon, we can confirm the monitors will indeed finally be available later this month."

Now take it with a grain of salt of course, but it is hopeful.

    did expect that...

haloing in FALD LCD (especially with an IPS panel) cannot be undone!
maybe it can be reduced by game-patches, so that HDR10 doesn't push the FALD to maximum where the cursor is moving!

Based on this video: i was impressed by how fast the fald switched... in comparison to the PA32UC, which seems to be painfully slow...

after seeing this - i am really keen on in depth reviews coming in the next weeks or so...

As pccentric mentioned, these are the best looking gaming-monitors so far - image-quality-wise...
and for me personally - it is a step inbetween LED LCD and self emitting LEDs...

for gamers - it is a big step - and one i am eagerly awaiting to make!

And of course - he somewhat teased 32" versions?!

Haloing is unavoidable. There are only 384 zones, which means 1 LED per 0.8 square inches. A mouse pointer is smaller than a square inch, by quite a bit. If the LEDs are dimmed because the area is dark, they HAVE to increase black level to display the mouse pointer properly. It is impossible to remove this effect without an emissive display like OLED, or a backlight of such high density that it's effectively the same as per-pixel brightness control.

What is most notably improved in this video is the backlight LATENCY. That actually looks pretty good, the bright area is very precisely following the mouse pointer. All other FALDs have 500-1000ms of lag on this effect, which creates really unpleasant bright trailing on every bright element.

That's what we were hoping they eliminated. It's just not possible for them to completely eliminate haloing in general on an LCD of any type. If you expect a gaming display with no haloing, you want OLED, no LCD can do it.

so no improvement from what we saw in CES...I'm very disappointed. What delayed the release date then?

This is quite the dealbreaker. Definitely not gonna pay above $2000 for this. Gonna wait for microled.*

price in germany is around 2500€ -

'asus germany' officially told german press (some weeks ago) that they couldn't keep the price within the 2000€ range - and then announced that they had to raise it to 2500€
(at CES 2017 they aimed for 1500€, at CES 2018 they aimed for 2000€ and at GDC 2018 they announced 2500€)

at least the two biggest german electronic-retailers ('Media Markt' and 'Saturn') adapted that price - and since two days ago, they have PG27UQ in there assortment:

    http://www.mediamarkt.de/de/product/...a_query=pg27uq

    https://www.saturn.de/de/product/_as...pg27uq

    PS:

i don't think haloing will bother me that much - because most content in HDR is dynamic...
a mouse pointer on black background will ever be the worst case scenario...!
But i am really satisfied with the latency of FALD as seen in the video!
I think that was the reason they had to delay this monitor so long -
to get the latency of FALD lower and don't become unprecise

As some of you pointed out:

the FALD-pattern is 24x16 - so theoretically: every single LED is emitting a pixelsquare of 160x135 pixels!

I see people praising it as a very fast response from FALD but for the price point I actually expected better, maybe something can be done to avoid the backlight from blasting that 1000nits and creating the Halo effect.
