Future HDR monitors are most definitely going to be 4k. HDR is best when you can use more pixels to create a fluent/nicer looking contrast, hence why OLED TVs are only on 4K. 1440p is not 2k, 2048x1080p is 2k. Sometimes 1920x1080p is referred to as 2k. A 1440p monitor is 2.5k.

Philips 436M6VBPAB is a 43inch 4k 32zone HDR VA panel. If you dont get the CHG70 or the PG27UQ, you're gonna have to wait for better monitors to co

There will be single gpu's releasing that will push 4k I don't know why you all are forgetting about these 32gb hbm2 cards it might be super expensive but they will be releasing 4k cards on a single gpu

Yup, eventually there will be. We'll get cards that can run 4k at 144hz eventually. But I think that is 2-3 generations down the road. I say this because the 1080ti outputs an average of 60fps on most AAA games at their highest/ultra settings on HDR. Generally, the biggest jump in GPUs are like a 70%ish performance increase each generation. So if my speculation is correct at all, I say we'll have to wait until 2022 at the bare minimum.

    Not anytime soon.
you forgot that also AAA games will increase in terms of graphics complexity in the future.
There are many AAA games even 1080ti at 1440P cannot run them above 90-100FPS at ultra.
FFXV for example, where there are some areas, Fps drop to 50-60 most of the time.
4K on single GPU needs at least 2-3 generations from now for 120-144 fps. And don't forget, also games can go in graphics intensity way faster than GPU generation.

I was at my local Microcenter today to check out this monitor. Was very surprised when I noticed they have the monitors on discount already! Normally $1999 marked down to $1799. Ended up buying one for the sale price. I was told it’s in store price only.

Edit: was also told they have price drop guarantee. If you bought it from Microcenter in the last 30 days, bring up your receipt and they will give you $200 back if you purchased at $1999

PG27UQ and X27 use AHVA means IPS means glow, bleed and now the halo effect.
Bleed and Glow kills AHVA panels.
BTW if you prefer brighter dark than a darker black, than you know nothing about image quality.
OLED is king because of what ? because of its ultimate black and ultra high contrast. Black and contrast are the most important factor in image quality.

Never again AHVA (IPS like), image without deep black and high contrast (means without AHVA bleed and glow) is a trash in terms of quality. Contrast is king.
I got the name opposite but yes AHVA is IPS type and AMVA is VA read this http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/articles...fresh_rate.htm

There is no IPS glow and bleed with FALD. So idk what ur talking about. I used TN and they are horrible. Cant even watch anything if you are sitting and decide to stand.

35 inch!!! VA on big screen like this will have a color shift at the edge of the screen because of viewing angle.
Why not 27 inch !!! 27 inch will be perfect for VA and viewing angle will be much better than bigger screen.
It is mandatory each time to have a disadvantage? is this the policy of gaming monitors in the world ?
