May 23rd is also the day that Battlefield 5 is announced. I wonder if a partnership between ASUS PG27UQ and BF5 will be announced.

“PG27UQ is the official monitor of BF5.” Is how I envision it. *

An IPS display for a competitive game? hm... maybe...

But maybe it all comes back to HDR

    and while BF1's HDR-implementation wasn't the best i have seen -
maybe they advertise BF5's graphical fidelity on the most advanced gaming-monitor available (which just can be Asus PG27UQ and the one from Acer)

i am really looking forward to the next weeks -
by the way, it is more or less a fact now, that Nvidia will announce their new GPU's in May (GTC)

So this is what i expect:

    may 23 =
    BF5 announcement - with presentation on PG27UQ -
unknown gpu's are used - (marketing blabla... 'we can not comment on the GPU's blabla')
and one week later NVidia itself is running the exact same presentation -
and announces the mysterious GPU which is used!

    what do you think?
It would be the perfect announcement/marketing for everything -
and a game like BF catches attention even outside our 'hardcore'-gaming-community!

That is Acer's party but I believe Asus will be on or near it. But ya I could see demo units running on a pair of undisclosed 1180s.

What's wrong with PG27UQ IPS for FPS? It has a response time of 4ms, which is very close to that of my 1ms on my TN PG display.

    don't get me wrong...

it is indeed a gaming monitor with a decent/very good response time -
and for me peronally more than good enough (as i do not play competitive)

and i would absolutely enjoy BF5 in HDR, UltraSettings on PG27UQ/X27, etc...

but even if it's a cliche´- those who really want to play professional...
i think those kind of people/eSportler will prefer a TN panel -
and don't even care about best grapics, HDr, etc...
(cause it all adds to the inputlag)

So maybe BF5 can be seen as a very good tech-demo-title for Pg27UQ -
but i don't know how most people who play it activeley/professional will feel about 4ms response time, HDR, and all the side-effects, that com with it?!

    yes - you can -

but the combination of high res, 4ms and of course 144hz (instead of up to 240hz)
makes it less attractive for real professionals (like Starcraft 1/2 and Counter Strike eSportlers/experts) -

i have seen a documentation about eSports in japan and china,
the professional eSports schools and leagues seem to even test reaction timings of their players...
and every component is tested in terms of inputlag and reaction time to a point where it all becomes a piece of real hard work !

For those kind of 'players' the PG27UQ is not the best piece of hardware...

but hell - i am not this kind of gamer!
i like gaming just for fun -
so for personal usage i don't care about the difference between 4ms response time and 1ms

    i choose IPS QD 4ms in 4K 98hz 10bit HDR - because i like eyecandy!!
