I believe the level of attention Intel gives board partners is greater than AMD, but that's what being the Big Blue Dog with the Big Bucks can afford them to do.
I am currently using a per core OC on my 8700K with all cores set to the same speed just playing around but there isn't per core voltage settings like X299
Glad the system is running good for you

So, my six month anniversary with AMD has rolled around.

I have to say I am pretty happy with things so far overall. Plenty of cores and plenty of power for all everyday computing and gaming and completely stable!

The board and CPU have worked very well together as has the RAM…in fact the RAM overclocking has been more fun that the CPU overclocking, which is somewhat limited even with top end water-cooling.

I know AMD have released the 2990WX 32 core beast but honestly I don’t see that as anything but a very niche product on the ZE. That many cores… I’d want the memory channels to go with it and EPYC seems more the way to go. The possible upgrade path at the moment for me is the 2950X zen+ version of the 1950X…we’ll see…Turing seems a bigger leap in performance for my rig…

I am on BIOS 1402 and have had no problems really, through all BIOS revisions. Other people haven’t been so lucky and there seems a general feeling that BIOS support for AMD is not what it is for Intel. People still waiting for some features to get included.

I have one issue that has been niggling me since the start. P-State OC does not work on the 1920X or 1900X. I have a support ticket with AMD open…hopefully they will work this out finally, because this would be my ideal OC route for downclocking and downvolting. I could run a 4.1 all core OC at nice low volatge and avoid the rather high voltage spikes of the AFR stock config. Though I've got away from that with negative offset voltage for stock config. Something I would advise anyone to try out...you might well be able to avoid 1.5+v appearing in your monitoring software and scaring the bejeesus out of you...

Hope AMD can build on the success they have had so far...at least with CPUs...GPUs? not sure what they will/can bring...

This does seem true unfortunately...not sure if it's limited resources or limited willingness

I just built a 2600X system last month and while it's not bleeding edge I'm very happy overall. It works well and StoreMI is slick. I haven't even replaced the Wraith cooler yet because it just works.

Actually that's the first I heard of Store MI...just gave that a quick look and it looks cool...I'll have to investigate further

Just to add to last post: BIOS 1402 has been perfectly stable for me day to day...latest AGESA etc. but I also tested the same RAM OC at same voltages and that passed with flying colours...despite it being 10 degrees hotter now than when I was last testing. Passed 30 mins of RamTest before I got bored.

I prefer ASUS "RamCache II" over Store MI.
Assigning 8GB out of 64GB for RamCache.

Linus had a video not long ago where Store MI was included and some things to keep in mind, TLR was there are other software that does a better job with more options (but you have to pay for a license)

I haven't gone through and tried manual timings yet. Of the two one-click memory overclocks the more aggressive (3200 I believe) didn't post but the slower speed with tighter timings did. There's a new BIOS available so I need to get that flashed and do some tuning but honestly everything is working.

It was one of the more odd parts selection processes I've gone through. I had a discount for Google Express which sells products from local brick & mortar stores. So I had to choose from parts that Google chose to sell from parts that another business chose to sell. So I didn't have a lot of choices but the prices was right. $490 USD including taxes for the CPU, memory, board. That's a $125 discount and the memory was already on sale too.

What you are talking about are different things. Yes StoreMI does offer a ram cache but its primary purpose is tiered storage. I don't even use the ram cache feature because the reviews I've seen show it varying from mildly helpful to mildly harmful. It's probably useful in commercial environments where specific workloads can be optimized but for a general purpose machine I don't want to turn it off & on all the time. Plus a ram cache is not persistent through reboots. Once files are written to fast tiered storage they stay there until displaced by something else more important. So if you play the same game every day it will be pure SSD speeds.

For me, I used to store all of my games on spinning rust and use Steam Mover to temporarily move the game I'm currently playing to an SSD. StoreMI does basically the same thing automatically. I bought a cheap 256GB Intel 600p and set it as the fast tier...done. Eventually I want to have 100% SSD storage as prices come down, but for now that is out of reach.

Sweet! cool price for a system. So, I can see why you didn't get something specifically from the QVL in that kind of a deal...maybe a bit of non XMP tweaking will see you right....can be fun to play with if you have spare time

$125 discount for the whole order so maybe it knocked $40 off the memory. The sale price for the memory was $185. Still, memory is expensive right now so I'll take what I can get.
