EK has blocks for TR, which is the ones Gupsterg ment to stay away from. EK have only increased the physical size of the block and keep a smallish area for microfins where most of the heat transfer is done.
They are really subpar to the competition, the AIO Enermax Liqtech TR 360 outperforms it.

Thanks for the heads up...I just took a look at their site actually and quickly got the impression they had been lazy in the design...

Coupled with the fact they are practically giving the block away....doesn't say much for confidence in their own product

I cant say to how the enermax compares to anything cause I only own the Enermax 360 and its keeps my cpu cool, I stay idle at 22-24c and thats with a over clock of 3.9ghz and max underload (benchmark/stability testing) barely breaks 55 on the rare occasion but on day to day highest hits with my workloads is 42-47c

but i also keep this room very cool.

    Nice .

I did consider this, it was in stock at launch, instead I waited on pre-order of EK to arrive for ~2wks . I had thought the EK looked not to have as large fin area, as it was my 1st WC build I had thought perhaps I was over thinking and the EK will be good. Should've gone with my gut feeling :/ .

Ryzen/ThreadRipper is not like Intel. On Intel we have individual and then the package temp. TCTL/TDIE is similar to package, here is ~10hrs Y-Crunching at room ambient of ~22°C. The average column is more relevant the max occurs very very limited times, last time I checked log ~2-3 instances. ~37hrs of P95 on another UEFI but same RAM setup.

Stock/mild OC, depending on room ambient is all the EK is alright for IMO :/ .

Hmmm...right you are...defo out as an option then...

Look at all those cores! Look good for 37 hrs of prime!...not sure I've run that many hours in the whole of my life

Is that a good CPU Gupsterg or average?....I don't know what are good volts on that platform exactly but looks good for 3.7 on 16 cores!

Usually I wouldn't do that kind of length either, as thread seems negative at times on ZE I've been sorta going "all out" on stability testing. I check for various things with each UEFI/profile, post/training stability, USB functionality, flashback working, etc, etc.

CPU is average IMO, so far IMC seems good IMO. TR is supposedly using the cream of Ryzen dies.

3.7GHz it will do 16C/32T, that is stock for TR1950X. PB/XFR will allow you 4C/8T upto ~4.0GHz if it's on differing nodes of CPU, link. IIRC a TR1900X does higher from a member's share, as it has less cores and same TDP, so more headroom.

PB/XFR 2 will be better on refresh CPUs. Viewing latest C6H UEFI even this will be supported on X370 for refresh CPUs even if X470 is going to be out. Dunno if TR will get refresh chipset, even if it does going by what has occurred on X370 user won't miss out on support.

Generally my opinion is TR1950X at stock is really nice for all round usage. If your usage case is requiring all cores in the main then yes you could gain ~4.0GHz (or slightly above) on a decent CPU. This one will do ~3.9GHz @ 1.3V, others I have seen will use slightly less or more (~25mV). IIRC 1.3V/1.35V is supposed to be "safe".

At stock PB/XFR will take VID/VCORE higher, but as when this occurs loading is being kept in check, A/W through silicon will not be the same as all cores OC. When CPU is in OC mode PowerLimit, etc is unlocked only temp throttling is left.

Currently Ryzen/ThreadRipper gen 1 is not supporting per core OC, perhaps refresh will. There are some newer options in UEFI which could do this, a member on OCN is hacking UEFI to enable PB/XFR 2 on non refresh CPUs, so we may know what these settings do rather than speculating.

Yeah...top 5% I read somewhere which is good for lowest voltage etc...the reason I'd go for a 1950X over a 1920X just for the best silicon rather than an absolute use for cores.

Exactly what I want...a bit of everything...actually going to need to do some video work so cores will be good for that....photoshop and lightroom start marginal returns over 8 to 10 cores for most stuff but there are some returns and in some things they'll take all they can get...

I don't do so much gaming any more...and they have a dedicated 8 core gaming mode anyway right..

I never found per core OC on Intel particularly useful or easier on voltage to be honest...I'll leave that sort of hacking to you lot

I have no real professional use for TR , I don't know what possessed me to have one .

Yes you can flip to GAME mode via Ryzen Master, TBH I have seen no need, I have plenty of titles from ~10yrs ago.

I wasn't into per core tweaking on Intel either TBH, but more options for tweaking, etc are always good though . What would be cool is to have say PB/XFR still active, so say you could take the 3.7GHz stock ACB and move that to say 3.9GHz and retain the higher clock boost for lower count of core/threads.
