If Asus does not update the ME firmware (bios) the vulnerability can not be fixed

With Intel Detection Tool, it's good for your ?

The builds yes, but they do not have the update for the vulnerability (R6E)

For this I ask you for APEX with the Intel tool if it's ok or not

I can check the ME version tonight. However, a number of tools I used to check for vulnerability including MS were showing protected.

Intel is now saying, even the new bios updates (with new CPUs) could result in spontanious reboots under heavy load.
Anyone having these? I am going to sit this one out.
New bios update will follow soon when intel puts new version out. Hopefully with ME update.
Rushing is what makes problems. Personally the end user should not bother with manual ME updates and messing around.
    Let ASUS fix it.

Just to be clear, the X299 is an expensive set. I cannot believe for the likes of it, that lower and cheaper systems get priviledge over updates.
Also, the problem of ME is here a LONG time, Asus should fix it faster! It takes ages. I understand they need testing times. But common.

    Any input is cool.

Yes, Windows and Intel Micorcode are up to date and protected for Spectre and Meltdown, it's good on this side but not for ME vulnerability.
The version of the ME firmware must be 11.11.50.1436 for the "system" to be protected ("SA-00086" vulnerability)

It's still weird that Asus did not update the ME when this vulnerability was discovered before Spectre and Meltdown, I believe
If it interresses certain, I can do a topic for the manual update

Does indeed look like the ME firmware needs to be updated manually for the time being, at least on the Extreme. Not able to check the Apex version till later. Only takes a few seconds, though.

I updated both the bios and the ME firmware. and it still showing the Spectre vunerability on 2 of the testing apps. The one from intel sez I'm Patched and no longer vunerable.
