RGB Monoblock won't light up

If you got the three wire version and you plugged it into the 12v header you have probably fried your LED strip. (I did this when they replaced it and didn't tell me they sent me a 5v version instead of the 12v that malfunctioned). It sux but the moment you plug a 5v plug into a 12v header it will go Boom.

They sell these LED strips separately and have both versions. I prefer the 12 volt version as it works better with Aura. Just make sure when you order one from them (they are about 6 Euros) to specify which one you want.

I can't really recall my first steps. I suspect this is what I probably did though, fried the strip. EK have sent me 2 strips. Don't really fancy stripping apart my pc again, well especially the water loop. Just to replace the led strip. I'll wait a while & then do it.

The strip can be replaced without removing the block. Simply remove the black LED cover, the stip is attached to the cover. Two screws and its out. No need to drain or remove block.
Its also possible that you fried the RGB controller on your MOBO.

That's good news I can replace the strip hassle free. I will get on to it.

Everything else I did building the pc, I researched, checked, & double checked before diving in.....all bar the led mono block strip. I assumed it was straight forward & simple. You know what they say about assumptions.

Did they change the strips to addressable?
Mine is 12V with 4 wires that plugs into one of the RGB headers and works just fine.

WHen EK sent me the RGB LED strip they sent me a 12v 4-wire and a 5v 3-wire strip so I could choose which one I wanted to use. Since I had one strip already in one of the four pins and my other four pin has a dead GREEN header, I used the 5v 3-pin for the block.
