Normal GPU temp

I'm playing SWTOR on my G53SX-XA1. My GPU is running at 86c most of the time, and occasionally kicks up tot he low 90s when running flashpoints (dungeons). I do not live in a hot environment, the exhaust ports are not blocked, I have used compressed air to clean out the vent several times, my laptop sits on a flat surface.

Is this a normal temp?
Can someone else with a G53SX-XA1 chime in on this one?

I still have about a week to return this for a full refund.

Hello Kerspoink, you can compare the temps. with mine....

When i run the Folding@Home Application (GPU & CPU), I get thease following temperatures (100% load) on my G74SX-BBK7:

CPU: ~76c (i7 2.00 GHz)
GPU: ~67c (GTX 560M)
MB: ~79c
HDD:~35c (2 Seagate HDDs)

While in Idle mode (nothing running), I get these Temperatures:

CPU: ~51c (i7 2.00 GHz)
GPU: ~43c (GTX 560M)
MB: ~53c
HDD:~31c (2 Seagate HDDs)

I can tell you this, my G74 has a huge exhaust in the back and the higher the temp, the higher the fan speeds... Does yours
change the fan seeds according to the temp too? I also remember reading somewhere on a forum (forgot which one), someone called ASUS and asked what are the safe temperature ranges. The person got a rely say that "Everything under 85c is OK". I can't confirm that this is 100% true, just that i read it somewhere...... Hope this helps...

Sounds like you may need to blow the dust out of it.

well, as previously stated in my original post. I have already blown any and all dust out of the vents multiple times. I hate to try to fix a bigger issue with a cooling pad, but i don't think my gpu should be running around 86 normally.

Am i wrong?

Are you talking Fahrenheit or Celcius temperatures? Please report your temps in Celcius. 86 C is way too hot for an idle temp (i.e.running no applications). If that is what you're getting, return the laptop. Running 86 C while gaming heavily is another matter.

What GPU are you running?

You'd think some other users running G53's could weigh in here with some of their temp info....

86c is while gaming.

Idle it is ~45 - 50c

86c is while gaming.

Idle it is ~45 - 50c.

and it is a GTX560m

The idle seems normal to me. 86 C while gaming doesn't seem excessive to me. What do the rest of you out there think?

86 while under heavy load shouldn't be unusual for the g53, as its cooling system isn't as strong as the g74's. so that sounds normal to me, but i don't have a g53. the idle temps are fine. so unless someone with a g53 thinks that is excessive, i think you're ok.

After playing Battlefield 3 for a few hours my GPU usually runs around 75-77 degrees. 86 does seem a little excessive and I do have a G53. My GPU never runs above 78 degrees
