    so is there literally only leds on the right side of the card that just travels to the left side? i thought i had burned out leds but ima have to try buying a new tube

    Faulty RGB Tube

    I have Asus Rog strix Gtx 1070.My GPU was looking amazing before but now is looking bad.The GPU is the best one of performance but i have an issue with the Rgb tube.

    I have two of these cards and have sent one away to have this fixed. They sent me a new card and the other one had the same thing happen to it a month later... I just gave up on them, disabled the onboard RGB and installed a LED strip to light my build...

    ASUS ROG RGB is garbage. My Hero VI motherboard RGB colours don't even match anymore either. The IO shows two different shades or any colour I pick... and so does one of the cards.....

    It's awesome that there is a solution, but I must ask the question. My GPU is not that old, why should I be replacing them?, and does that mean that other RGB components are going to go the same way?

    Same issue here with my 1070 Strix. The lighting has been extremely dim on the side and bottom for some time, until I found this thread and bought a 4mm fiber optic side glow cable to replace it myself.

    I'll use the chance to also replace the thermal paste on the GPU and CPU, and see if I can get a few degrees lower.

    Pictures below:
    - My 1070 lighting as it was originally 3 years ago.
    - The super dim lighting as it is today.
    - The fiber optic cable I bought (1 meter long).

    I'll post some pictures of the process and results once I get to do it, if anyone is interested.

    So here is the process of replacing the side glow tubes from my GTX 1070 Strix. Should be similar for other cards. This video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GUySjP7-gI) that someone posted a few pages back was very helpful for knowing how to disassemble it. A lot of it is unnecessary for the purpose of replacing these tubes, but it's good to know.

    So, to start, take off the 3 screws next to the fans, and the 3 screws on the side that goes closer to the motherboard, then the cover comes right off. You may want to disconnect the black cables to fully separate it and move it more freely. Otherwise, as I did, just be careful and don't pull too much.

    Carefully, use a flat screwdriver or something to lever the side glow tubes out from its enclosing. And I repeat, carefully, or you may break them. I had to take a broken piece out with tweezers.

    Now, the original tubes are roughly 27 cm long. So just cut two pieces from the new one with scissors or a sharp knife. Here's a side by side comparison of the old and new tubes, see how white they got.

    Then, insert the new side glow tubes, you may need to push a bit to make sure they clip into place. Finally, put the fan cover back and all the 6 screws, install the card into your computer and hope for the best!

    As someone else said, the new light colors are a little off to me too, but it doesn't bother me much. At least it's fully glowing again in all its glory

    And the whole process is like 5-10 minutes, definitely not worth it to send your card to Asus.

    high temp tape

    check it out guys

    i bought this high temp tape and insulated the new light tubes on my card. if the heat tape works as it should(check youtube), im thinking this may be a perma fix, if not at least giving us a lot more time before changes. doesnt affect the color at all. i didnt tape it all the way up to where the LED's are so there wouldnt be any light transfer thru the tape, which could impact the color. left a little gap as shown. have fun

    Well this happened on my 580, I contacted support which was a nightmare, I explained the issue, sent pics of the card with 2/3 of the lights off and pics from this forum showing the problem is with the fiber optics in the face plate I was told i needed new drivers. After explaining the card is fine the leds are the issue I was told I'd be contacted in 24 hours. Well I was contacted and told I could not get a face plate and that I voided the warranty disassembling the card. Apparently Asus does not know the law in the USA does not allow companies to prevent users from servicing their own purchased products and unless there actions in serviceng caused damage a warranty can not be voided. it's like saying if you change your tires you void your cares warranty. Either way I did not disassemble my card, this was an assumption made by a the person who contacted me only because he clearly did not read the chat I had with tech and only saw the pics I pulled from this forum.

    Based on our facility that handled your request for the optical fiber in the face plate of your ROG-STRIX-RX580-O8G-GAMING, we are unable to provide the part requested because it's not an accessory that comes in with the GPU, it is part of the GPU itself. The only way for us to fix it is to send it in for repair, however since you already dis-assembled the GPU it already voided the warranty and repair fees might apply. We highly suggest going through our resellers or off the market sellers to get those optical fiber.
