Yes. Most Xbox Play Anywhere titles should seamlessly support cloud saves and syncing of your games and the progress in your games.

Connectivity & Accessories

Yes! The ROG Xbox Ally supports external monitors via its USB-C port with DisplayPort output. You can also connect a keyboard, mouse, or other accessories using Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. If you plan on doing so, we recommend using the ROG Bulwark Dock (2025) DG300 or another 130W-capable dock. If you're using the ROG Xbox Ally X, you can also connect to an ROG XG Mobile and enjoy the performance of up to an NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 5090 Laptop
Yes. While the ROG Xbox Ally has a built-in controller of its own, you can also pair it to an Xbox controller, the ROG Raikiri series of controllers, or any PC compatible gamepad when you want to play on a TV or with friends. 

Hardware & Upgradability

You can very easily upgrade the storage if you want more capacity for your library, since the M.2 drive uses a standard 2280 form factor.
The M.2 SSD operates at PCIe Gen4 speeds, ensuring that you’ll leave loading times in the dust. The Xbox full screen experience will always be buttery smooth, and games will install incredibly quickly (depending on your internet connection).

Customization & Software

Yes, you can customize RGB lighting, performance modes, and fan curves, all within Armoury Crate Special Edition (ACSE) or the Xbox Game Bar.
With ACSE we offer deep customization options, from thermal profiles to RGB lighting and key mapping. ACSE also supports all AMD Radeon software features like RSR, RIS, and AMD Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF).

Differences Between Models

The ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X both feature different chips from the original ROG Ally. The ROG Xbox Ally features AMD’s Ryzen™ Z2A, with the ROG Xbox Ally X features the top-performing AMD Ryzen™ Z2 Extreme. With support for the latest Radeon™ graphics software, including AMD Fluid Motion Frames, these processors offer excellent performance with greater power efficiency and battery life than the previous generation. The software has also been upgraded from the original Ally. Not quite a console, but not quite a PC, the Xbox full screen experience offers a dedicated gaming experience inspired and optimized specifically for handheld gaming.

The ROG Xbox Ally X represents a major evolution in the world of portable Windows consoles. Ergonomics have improved significantly, Xbox integration transforms everyday use, and the performance of the Z2 Extreme provides real comfort when playing modern games. This console combines the freedom of a PC with the simplicity of an Xbox, successfully bringing these two worlds together. It is currently one of the best portable gaming experiences available on Windows.

While the Rog Xbox Ally X is not an Xbox console, it is certainly the closest thing to one. More specifically, it is a natural evolution of the Rog Ally X, with all the improvements needed to make it a new benchmark in its (niche) field. With near-perfect ergonomics, impressive performance and acceptable battery life, the Rog Xbox Ally X ticks many boxes and, as a bonus, has a much more convincing gaming interface...

The ROG Xbox Ally X isn't just an evolution, it's a truly mature, well-thought-out and better-balanced version. It ironed out the weaknesses of the first generation and established itself as a consistent, solid and enjoyable machine. The design inspires confidence, the buttons are perfectly placed and it feels great in the hand. The 120 Hz screen remains a gem of fluidity, while the responsiveness of the display makes you want to start another game.
