NRG eSports joins the Republic of Gamers
ROG is excited to announce our sponsorship of NRG eSports. The top-tier team will exclusively use our gaming desktops, laptops, and monitors in their pursuit of glory on the burgeoning eSports scene. They join a growing stable of eSports organizations under the Republic of Gamers banner, including Echo Fox, Ninjas in Pyjamas, PSG eSports, and DreamHack Masters.
Who are NRG eSports?
Founded by Andy Miller and Mark Mastrov, co-owners of the Sacramento Kings NBA team, NRG blurs the line between eSports and traditional athletics. Its investors and advisors include NBA great Shaquille O’Neal and former MLB MVPs Alex Rodriguez and Jimmy Rollins—people who know a thing or two about what it takes to succeed at the highest level.
NRG eSports competes in a wide range of games, including CS:GO, Gears of War, Hearthstone, Overwatch, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros, and Smite. They’re the reigning world champions in Smite and won the North American regional portion of the Rocket League Champion Series last year.

The roster includes big names like Seagull, the most-watched Overwatch player on Twitch. He’s taking a break from competition to focus on streaming until the Overwatch League starts later this year. Another recognizable star is Nairo, one of the youngest and most successful Super Smash Bros. 4 players around. Nairo continually places in major tournaments and played an exhibition match for an audience of over 17,000 during a Sacramento Kings halftime show. You can check out the full roster at the NRG eSports site.
What ROG gear are they using?
Having the right equipment is critical when competing against the best in the world, so we’re equipping NRG eSports with ROG gaming monitors, desktops, and laptops. The team will be using our ROG Swift PG258Q and PG278QR gaming monitors, whose ultra-fast refresh rates offer the instant responsiveness required by top players. They’ll also play on ROG Strix GD30 desktops that deliver exceptional performance in popular eSports titles.
“eSports tournaments are drawing audiences that rival the biggest sporting events I’ve experienced,” said NRG eSports Co-Owner and Advisor Shaquille O’Neal. “We need the most hardcore technology for that intensity of competition and ASUS meets those demands.”
