At ROG, we provide gamers with incredible machines that push the limits of possibility. Our Zephyrus family is the perfect marriage of style, portability, and performance. Inspired by the Greek god of the west wind, Zephyrus laptops are light and airy, with a sense of style and refinement that suits libraries and LAN parties alike.

A table comparing the current Zephyrus lineup of ROG laptops.

The Zephyrus family offers sophisticated and portable designs with serious gaming horsepower. However, there are a few key differences between the 2023 Zephyrus G14, G16, M16, and Duo 16:

  • The Zephyrus G14 features a 14-inch display for an ultra-compact form factor. The G16, M16, and Duo 16 feature larger 16-inch displays packed into a 15-inch chassis to retain slim portability.
  • The Zephyrus G14, G16, and M16 all offer our Nebula Display, with the G14 and M16 also featuring the Mini LED-based Nebula HDR Display for intense HDR visuals.
  • The Zephyrus G14 and Duo 16 use AMD 7000 series processors, while the Zephyrus M16 and G16 sport 13th-gen Intel processors.
  • The larger machines feature higher-wattage graphics chips for even better performance, with the Zephyrus G16 packing up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 while the G14, M16, and Duo 16 go up to an RTX 4090.
  • The Zephyrus Duo 16 has a second 4K display that rises above the keyboard for multi-monitor gaming and productivity.
  • All of the above notes refer specifically to the 2023 Zephyrus family. Design and specifications may vary for previous model years, which may still be available for purchase at the time you’re reading this.

Those are the basic differences, but there’s so much more. Let’s dive a bit deeper into each model in the Zephyrus family so that you can pick the right one for you.

The Zephyrus G14: blending gaming prowess with go-anywhere portability

A photo of the Zephyrus G14 laptop laid out on a table, surrounded by headphones, mice, and other peripherals.

As the smallest member of the lineup, the 2023 Zephyrus G14 is the ideal choice for someone who stays on the move. Weighing in at just 1.65kg, this svelte machine will easily fit in even space-conscious bags and backpacks, and is light enough to carry all day. Despite its compact form factor, the G14 boasts a 16:10 QHD+ Nebula or Nebula HDR Display with a 165Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time, and 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. We consider these the most fundamental features of a modern gaming display, allowing every movie, show, or game to pop right off the screen. The Nebula HDR model ups the ante with a Mini LED panel sporting 600 nits of peak brightness and 504 local dimming zones, for a truly mind-blowing experience. If you opt for the non-HDR model, the Zephyrus G14 features the iconic AniMe Matrix™ display on the rear of the lid, an array of 1,449 Mini LEDs that enables endless creativity with custom animations and status messages.

While most devices this thin and light sacrifice power for size, the G14 is still a gaming machine at heart, so we took great lengths to pack a powerful CPU and GPU in this compact package. Featuring up to an  AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS processor and an  NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU, the G14 can easily deliver high performance in all of the latest AAA and esports titles you’ve been waiting to play. And with NVIDIA Advanced Optimus, you can maximize framerates and minimize latency on-the-fly with a built-in MUX Switch that flips into gaming mode automatically when needed, and backs off for better battery life when unplugged.

How did we pack all of this hardware into a 14-inch chassis? It's all thanks to the latest Intelligent Cooling technologies: ROG engineers added liquid metal thermal compound to both the CPU and GPU, and covered half the internal components with a custom vapor chamber that dissipates heat better than conventional heat pipe designs. Paired with our Arc Flow Fans™, we were able to increase the power budget by 25W from the 2021 Zephyrus G14, without increasing chassis size or sacrificing acoustics. If you need a machine that can move with you, the G14 is the clear choice.

The M16 features a premium build from head to toe, complete with a new mirror polishing technique that creates a luxurious level of shine on the aluminum alloy chassis.

Your content will shine just as brightly as well, thanks to the 16-inch QHD+ Nebula HDR display powered by a Mini LED panel. With 1,024 individual dimming zones and up to 1,1200 nits of peak brightness, the M16 allows HDR content to pop like never before, whether you’re playing games, watching movies, or editing video of your own.  For vivid, standout colors, the screen covers 100% of the cinema-grade DCI-P3 color space. And for the first time ever, the Zephyrus M16 now also features ROG’s AniMe Matrix™ display on the rear of the lid, allowing you to flex your own style with custom animations.

Flagship horsepower for gaming and creating alike comes courtesy of Intel’s Core i9-13900H CPU. Since many of today’s most popular creative apps can take advantage of GPU resources, the M16’s graphics options go all the way up to a GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU. Of course, this top-of-the-line chip serves up exceptional gaming experiences, too.

With up to a 2TB NVMe SSD, a second slot to add another drive, and support for up to 64GB of DDR5 4800MHz RAM, the M16 can pull double duty as a full-fledged mobile gaming machine and editing workstation without breaking a sweat. The Zephyrus Duo 16: For those who need it all

A photo of the Zephyrus Duo 16 on a table, with a user holding a mouse and touching the ScreenPad Plus secondary display.

Multiple displays enhance a myriad of tasks. Maybe you’re a Twitch streamer, and you need to keep an eye on your chat and streaming app. Maybe you’re a game developer, musician, or 3D animator, and you need additional space to arrange the controls and menus of your favorite apps. Or maybe you like to put your game on one screen and your squad’s video chat app on the other.

With the Zephyrus Duo 16, you can take the multitasking power of a second screen no matter where you go. This boundary-shattering device boasts not one, but two displays, with one available in a Mini LED QHD+ panel that will immerse you in your HDR games like never before.

Then, the secondary display amps this machine up even further: A 14-inch 3840x1100 touchscreen panel that gave the Duo 16 its name, ROG ScreenPad Plus unlocks flexibility and multitasking potential unheard of on a laptop. As you stream you can keep your OBS settings, live chat, and stream information all within sight. If you're editing video, you can keep your project libraries, notes, and edit panes visible without sacrificing precious timeline space on your main display. For gamers, resources like wikis, guides, tutorial videos, and crafting recipes can all be kept at the forefront. Windows 11 treats ROG ScreenPad Plus the same way it would handle an external monitor, so drag and drop functions and resizing is seamless. If you’ve ever thought, “I wish I could see these pages without alt-tabbing out,” the Zephyrus Duo 16 has entered the chat.

With up to an AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX CPU and an NVIDIA RTX 4090 Laptop GPU with a max TGP of 165W, the Duo 16 is a no-compromises gaming and content creation machine. Paired with dual 2TB NVMe SSDs in a RAID 0 array, with up to 64GB of 4800MHz DDR5 RAM, there is no amount of multitasking or AAA gaming that this machine can’t handle.

The second screen does more than just power up your workflow, thanks to an innovative hinge that slides back while rising to keep the screens flush. Once elevated, the Duo 16 has access to more fresh air than a traditional machine, which allowed us to pack the machine with flagship hardware. Paired with 84-blade Arc Flow Fans and Thermal Grizzly’s cutting-edge Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal, the Zephyrus Duo 16 stays cool and quiet without dropping an ounce of performance. The Duo 16 is the perfect companion for a gamer who accepts no compromises.

Zephyrus: Lighter, quieter, and more refined machines

High performance gaming laptops don’t need to be large, or heavy, or loud. Inspired by the Greek god of the west wind, the Zephyrus family delivers Olympic-level gaming performance in whisper quiet and portable chassis. If you only need one machine for work and play, and don’t like to make any compromises, your next laptop should be a Zephyrus.
