The ROG Strix family has always been about extreme performance married with cyberpunk style, and we’ve packed more new features than ever into the brand new 2023 lineup. These esports and enthusiast-focused machines feature the latest silicon from Intel, AMD, and NVIDIA across the entire Strix family, as well as a massively upgraded and reimagined cooling solution for four newly redesigned models. Welcome to peak performance without sacrifice.

A big year for Strix

2023 brings two huge new changes to the Strix family: new display sizes and new names. With the addition of a 16-inch, 16:10 aspect ratio display, last year’s Strix SCAR 15 and Strix G15 have evolved into the Strix SCAR 16 and Strix G16, respectively. For our larger models, a new 18-inch panel size allows for massively immersive experiences in the new Strix SCAR 18 and Strix G18. Thanks to a new chassis design, we’ve been able to pack these enormous displays into laptops that still fit into respective 15- and 17-inch laptop bags when you need to game on the go.

While redesigning the chassis to fit large 16:10 displays, we also rebuilt the inside from the ground up to support the latest Intel 13th Gen CPUs and NVIDIA 40 Series laptop GPUs. To unleash these next-gen chips, we took ROG Intelligent Cooling to the next level yet again. All four of these Strix machines feature Tri-Fan Technology for the first time, with a new auxiliary fan that helps cool the GPU, while also targeting some of its airflow to internal components thanks to precisely calculated cutouts in the fan shroud.

We also completely redesigned the rear of the machines to accommodate a full-width heatsink and full-surround vents to take advantage of the extra airflow from the third fan and expel as much waste heat as possible from the laptop. We even tightened the design tolerance of the chassis to reduce the amount of space between it and the heatsinks, giving air a cleaner path outside the machine for even more efficient cooling. These heatsink changes are monumental, with a surface area increase of 71.26% on the Strix G16 and an incredible 92.23% increase on the Strix G18. All four machines also come equipped with Thermal Grizzly’s Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal on the CPU and GPU for the best possible thermal transfer.

With all of these cooling enhancements, we were able to boost the max TGP to a massive 175W for all four of the new Strix machines, making for the most powerful laptops ROG has ever built. The higher the power target, the more performance you can extract from this cutting-edge silicon, giving you better performance in game than ever before.

That’s not all, though. We’ve also updated the Strix SCAR 17 and Strix G17 for 2023 as well. The chassis features the same design as their 2022 counterparts, but both have been updated to feature AMD’s next-gen flagship CPUs and the latest NVIDIA 40 Series laptop GPUs.

That means you have six killer Strix machines to choose from — three Strix SCAR models (16, 17, and 18) and three Strix G (16, 17, and 18). Gear up — victory waits for no one.

SCAR your enemies for life

As ROG’s flagship gaming laptops, the Strix SCAR series always has the very best hardware inside for tournament-grade performance. The Strix SCAR 16 and SCAR 18 both feature up to an Intel Core i9-13980HX processor, paired with up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU at a max TGP of 175W. This gives the SCAR 16 and SCAR 18 gaming power to rival enthusiast desktop gaming rigs. A MUX Switch with NVIDIA Advanced Optimus intelligently ensures optimal framerates and better battery life. By automatically prioritizing either the discrete graphics for raw horsepower or the integrated graphics during lower intensity tasks, NVIDIA Advanced Optimus keeps your performance high when you’re plugged in, and battery life long when you aren’t — all without you ever lifting a finger.

The groundbreaking hardware in the 2023 Strix SCAR series draws frames at a dizzying rate, and their fast, bright, and vivid displays let you take advantage of every single one. Both the SCAR 16 and SCAR 18 come with an ROG Nebula Display option, ensuring smooth, clear motion with excellent color performance for a truly immersive experience. The new 16:10 aspect ratio gives you more screen real estate both in-game and when scrolling the web, and with a QHD resolution and 240Hz refresh rate, you’ll see every detail as the game developers intended.

In fact, on the Strix SCAR 16, we went even further. For the first time ever, we are proud to announce that our Nebula HDR Display is available on a Strix machine. This Mini LED panel meets all the ROG Nebula standards, and exceeds them with 1,100 nits of peak brightness, a 100,000:1 contrast ratio, and 1,024 individual dimming zones. This incredible panel trades blows and even beats the specifications of many flagship desktop HDR gaming monitors, delivering extraordinary experiences in all your HDR capable games and movies.

ROG Strix machines have always had a bold, cyberpunk inspired aesthetic, but for 2023 we went back to the drawing board to create something entirely new. Inspired by the mean streets of Goemon City and other locations from ROG SAGA, the cybertext lettering, dark chassis colors, and vibrant RGB lighting that adorn the new Strix machines reflect gamers’ sense of style and individuality. Customizable Armor Caps, a brand new RGB lighting zone on the rear exhaust vent, and Aura Sync RGB illumination allow you to further set yourself apart from the crowd. This RGB utility also lets you pair all your ROG devices together in one-of-a-kind color schemes, letting you flex your unique flair.

A larger glass touchpad offers a more premium feel and more precision when scrolling, and a new anti-fingerprint coating keeps the chassis looking factory-fresh. On the SCAR 16 and 18, the keyboard deck itself has a transparent gradient, giving you a sneak peek at the high-powered internals. Hotkeys provide one-touch access to control volume, your microphone, or performance modes on the fly, and can also be completely customized as macros. ROG Strix machines never forget their sense of style.

All-new Strix G machines are game for anything

Sporting similarly redesigned chassis, this year’s Strix G16 and Strix G18 march to battle with up to the same Intel Core i9-13980HX processor, paired with up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Laptop GPU at a 175W max TGP with Dynamic Boost. By pairing that high power target with the same dedicated MUX Switch and support for NVIDIA Advanced Optimus, the Strix G16 and Strix G18 can handle the most demanding games with ease.

This is all thanks to the same Intelligent Cooling improvements as the Strix SCAR lineup, including Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal on the CPU and GPU, Tri-Fan Technology, and the full-width heatsink and surrounding vents across the machine.

We didn’t forget to upgrade the displays on these machines either. Both the Strix G16 and Strix G18 feature up to QHD, 16:10 aspect ratio, 240Hz/3ms ROG Nebula displays. And with G-SYNC support, every scene will be tear free and clear, making destroying your enemies that much easier.
