ROG Strix GeForce RTX™ 4080 16GB GDDR6X OC Edition

worth considering

As the fifth RTX 4080 that I have now reviewed, there is no doubt in my mind that the ASUS RTX 4080 ROG Strix is the best of the lot – and by a fair distance.

ASUS RTX 4080 ROG Strix Review

8 out of 10

Cooling performance is the real differentiator when comparing custom cards from AIB partners. With a higher boost clock right out of the box, it’s no surprise that these cards’ GPU chips draw more power than NVIDIA's reference Founders Edition card. It's also no surprise to see the GPU chip on the ROG Strix, with a higher boost clock, drawing the most power out of the three cards.

Technology Award

In terms of performance and features alone, the ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4080 OC offers the best overall package for us. The cooling is quiet, keeps all components at low temperatures, and those who want to play around with the card a bit will also find more leeway in the power limit via the P-BIOS.

Techpowerup Editor's Choice

The ASUS GeForce RTX 4080 STRIX OC comes overclocked out of the box, to a rated boost clock of 2625 MHz, which is a 120 MHz increase over the NVIDIA FE speeds. This is the fastest factory-overclocked RTX 4080.

We all know the new GeForce RTX 4080 offers a great leap over the GeForce RTX 3090 and GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, but ASUS adds its usual magic touch to the ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4080 OC Edition. Fantastic performance out of the box with 2.9GHz+ boost clocks and overclocking past 3.0GHz isn't hard (but you won't get much more performance).
