ROG Makes Wishes Come True With a Charity Auction of a Unique Graphics Card

Sometimes wishes do come true. To celebrate the launch of the ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 4090, the Republic of Gamers recently teamed up with Make-a-Wish International to auction a Matrix GeForce RTX 4090 signed by the one and only Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA. Bidders lined up for the opportunity to have this piece of PC gaming history in their home — all the while knowing that all proceeds would help fulfill the dreams of children facing critical illnesses around the world.  

A truly magical graphics card

The ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 4090 is an extra-special piece of kit. This water-cooled GPU is the first card to come from the factory with liquid metal thermal compound on the die, allowing it to push frequencies higher than any other RTX 4090 on the market. Backed with a high flowrate pump, an extra-thick 360mm radiator, and three daisy-chainable fans, the Matrix melds power and luxury in a way that other graphics cards can only dream of. ROG would like to thank each and every one of the auction participants, all of whom pledged their hard-earned cash for a one-of-a-kind graphics card for a great cause, with the bidding price skyrocketing to $10,000 on the first day alone.  

But there could only be one winner, and we’re proud to announce that it was none other than PC hardware legend and friend of ROG, Roman 'der8auer' Hartung, with a bid of $16,000. Der8auer has been a pioneer in cutting-edge cooling solutions for over 15 years, both personally as an extreme overclocker and as the CEO of Thermal Grizzly, a manufacturer of high-performance thermal pastes and extreme PC cooling solutions. When asked about winning this one-of-a-kind ROG Matrix GeForce RTX 4090, der8auer said, “I’ve been a collector of Matrix cards for a long time, so I’m so excited to add this extra-special ROG Matrix 4090 to the collection. And to have the money go to a great cause like Make-A-Wish is just the cherry on top.”
