A new benchmark: the ROG Strix SCAR 18 rewrites the rules of performance

The ROG Strix SCAR series has always been on the bleeding-edge of technology, but we’ve truly raised the bar for what’s possible in a gaming laptop with the introduction of the 2026 ROG Strix SCAR 18. Featuring a redesigned cooling system that can sustain a staggering 320W of total system power, the SCAR 18 is able to drive the Intel Core Ultra 9 Processor 290HX Plus and up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU to new heights of performance. The ROG Strix SCAR 18 also features next-gen display technology, with a 4K/240Hz Mini LED panel that rocks our brand-new ROG Nebula Extreme Low Motion Blur system with its unique multi-zone strobing. If you need the absolute best gaming machine that you can bring anywhere, the 2026 ROG Strix SCAR 18 is the undisputed champion.
Game-changing performance
As the pinnacle of performance in the ROG gaming laptop lineup, the ROG Strix SCAR 18 needs to have powerhouse components. With the best that Intel and NVIDIA have to offer, this machine has more than enough power to game, create, and everything in between. Whether you’re an esports pro or like to spend your time in cinematic story-driven titles, sky high framerates mean you’re always immersed and not fiddling with quality settings in the menu.
The Intel Core Ultra 9 Processor 290HX Plus features 8 Performance-cores, 16 Efficient-cores, and a max boost of 5.5GHz, making it a multitasking monster. You can easily game, join some friends on a voice call, and stream simultaneously without any hiccups.
Boasting up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU with a max TGP of 175W, the ROG Strix SCAR 18 is one of the most powerful gaming laptops on the market. That larger TGP allows the GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU really stretch its legs and achieve maximum performance.
For the creatives out there, the Strix SCAR 18 drives professional-level 3D and video editing applications, large file sizes, and other demanding workflows with ease. Backed by up to 128GB of lightning-fast DDR5 memory, the Strix SCAR 18 is a true weapon that can travel to any studio or business meeting ready to get the job done.
320W of total system power at your fingertips

In order to boost the total system power of the ROG Strix SCAR 18 from last gen’s 255W to 320W, we pulled out all the stops to maximize cooling potential. The 2026 Strix SCAR 18 features a vapor chamber that’s 20% larger than the previous generation, helping maximize thermal efficiency under heavy loads. This vapor chamber is sandwiched between an upper and lower heatsink that span the entire rear of the machine, taking full advantage of ultra-thin 0.1mm copper fins for improved heat dissipation.
Just like the previous generation, all waste heat is exhausted out of the rear of the machine, keeping your mouse hand cool whether you’re a righty or a lefty. This design leaves the sides and bottom of the chassis free to act as air intakes, giving airflow a natural, unobstructed path through the system.
One big change specific to the 2026 Strix SCAR 18 is the fan design, now a bit taller and offering 90% more airflow than the previous gen design. We’ve also designed custom copper heatsinks with a dedicated graphite thermal pad for the PCIe Gen 5 SSDs, letting them operate at full speed during long video renders without any hiccups. All these innovations allow us to further close the performance gap between laptop and desktop systems, making a strong argument that Strix SCAR 18 might just be the ideal desktop replacement for PC gamers and creative professionals alike.
A truly incredible display
All that power is only as good as the panel that displays the final product. We’ve equipped the Strix SCAR 18 with a dazzling, all-new 18-inch 4K 240Hz ROG Nebula HDR Display powered by Mini LED technology, bringing together two traits that have traditionally required compromise: ultra-high resolution and ultra-fast refresh rates.
As a rule of thumb, the higher you go in resolution, the slower refresh rate your panel will have. We’ve eliminated that dichotomy with the ROG Strix SCAR 18, offering a competition ready refresh rate and a resolution that lets every game texture and detail pop to life.
Powered by Mini LED technology, this panel has a maximum brightness of 1600 nits in HDR, and boasts a VESA True Black 1000 certification, delivering true inky blacks and dazzling highlights in all of your HDR content. With 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space, this incredible display delivers bright and vibrant colors across your entire library.
The SCAR 18 is also equipped with AGLR (anti-glare and low reflection) technology, which reduces light reflections by 55% and delivers 4.5X better contrast. AGLR is able to cut unwanted glare from ambient lighting in the room without muddying the image or dulling colors like traditional anti-glare solutions. Taking the SCAR 18 out on the road and gaming in less than ideal lighting environments is much less of a hassle with ROG’s AGLR tech on your side. You can learn more about the benefits of anti-reflection and anti-glare here.
ROG Nebula ELMB brings never-before-seen levels of motion clarity

Twitch shooters require more than just high refresh rates. Motion clarify is paramount, which why we’ve radically reimagined our Extreme Low Motion Blur (ELMB) and brought it to the Strix SCAR 18 for the first time.
In a traditional ELMB setup, the backlight strobes between each refresh, helping reduce ghosting during fast motion. However, this strobing is applied globally across the entire display, which has some limitations. LCD panels don’t update all at once; instead, each frame is drawn line-by-line from top to bottom. That means when the backlight pulse fires, different parts of the screen are at different stages of their transition. The result is that only a portion of the image is perfectly clear at any given moment, while the rest is either still updating or already past its optimal state.
ROG Nebula ELMB changes that. Debuting for the very first time on the ROG Strix SCAR 18, this new tech utilizes Mini LED technology to deliver a 40-zone backlight setup, allowing the panel to precisely time backlight strobing for each individual zones to match up with the pixels being drawn, ensuring perfect motion clarity across the entire panel, every time. You can dive deeper into the technical details of ROG Nebula ELMB here.
Even better, unlike standard ELMB solutions, this feature works even when G-SYNC is enabled, meaning that you can enjoy this blur-free motion while also being protected from screen tearing. It’s never been a better time to be a competitive gamer.
Thoughtful features and timeless ROG styling

As ROG’s top performer, the Strix SCAR 18 sports bold ROG styling to make sure it stands out from the crowd. The AniMe Vision array on the lid houses a grid of LEDs that can display text and animations for everyone in the room. It also sports a full-surround Aura RGB bar, with true 360° coverage across the bottom of the machine for an uninterrupted glow and uniquely gamer feel. But we know that sometimes you have to get work done and be a bit more subtle, so we’ve added a “Stealth Mode” toggle directly into Armoury Crate to make the SCAR 18 office-appropriate with one button. Stealth mode also accentuates the premium chromium accents across the chassis that make the SCAR 18 feel like a truly luxurious machine.
Dual Thunderbolt™ 5 ports ensure compatibility with the very latest devices and peripherals with a single cable, and a dedicated 2.5Gb ethernet port makes lag a thing of the past. When you must game wirelessly, we’ve equipped the SCAR 18 with the latest Wi-Fi 7 standard, granting you broadband level speeds from anywhere in your home. The tool-less design on the Strix SCAR 18 also allows for seamless access to your SSD and RAM modules for upgrades. The entire panel can be removed in seconds, giving you full access to critical upgrade components with no screwdriver required. The SSD drive bays even feature our Q-Latch system, an elegant retention mechanism that securely holds your drives in place with no screws.
No stone unturned
Every detail of the 2026 Strix SCAR 18 has been engineered with a single goal: delivering the ultimate gaming experience. With next-generation cooling, uncompromising performance, and a display that sets a new visual benchmark, the SCAR 18 stands at the forefront of gaming laptops. The only question left is: are you ready to play at this level?
