What is the ROG logo? The design behind the Fearless Eye

The ROG logo is everywhere. It’s all over our website. It’s plastered on our apparel. It’s even projected from the bottoms of some of our slickest gaming monitors. But what is it? What does it symbolize? When did it first appear? All these burning questions have answers. Read on.

The ROG Fearless Eye: an introduction

The ROG logo is called the Fearless Eye. The eye’s name is a callout to ROG's rebellious "fearless, never settle" attitude.

We opted for an angular, hyper-stylized eye to symbolically capture the sharpness and precision of a gamer's ultra-alert eye. Since anyone in the Republic of Gamers is rocking cutting-edge tech, the Republic’s razor-sharp, slick logo needs to match that vibe.

In the design's center, you'll notice the actual eye, below the brow, resembles a "G." That's intentional. It's a direct call-out to our audience gamers, a reminder of who we’re doing this for. We see you. Game recognizes game.

The brand evolves: Origins of the eye

Though it's now the Republic's iconic logo, the eye didn't actually appear on the earliest groundbreaking ROG tech. When "Project G" was first formed inside ASUS and we launched the original ROG Crosshair motherboard, we used a cubic “G” for the logo. But not long after, the Fearless Eye debuted on the ASUS G1 gaming laptop. From there, ROG ran with the design. Soon enough, it became a signature detail across all of our best gaming gear and merch.
